Where is the best place to buy an alternator for the 2006 Jeep Liberty CRD 2.8 Liter diesel?

Do they make different amperage alternators?

I was wondering the same thing. My alternator went out last night. If I am going to replace it I wanted to put in a heavy duty one for lights, winch, etc.

If you want OEM go to IdParts. If you want after market then IIRC Autozone and similar places have a life time warranty replacement alternator. As far as I know only one output level is available.

I got mine from rock auto, and it was rated a lot more than factory. I'm wanting to say like 160 or 180 amp, no problem in 2 years now.

You can have yours rebuilt too. There is a small local shop by me that does quite a few alternator rebuilds.
Advance Auto has a "stock" one available.
Some higher amperage alternators for Liberty may be for the Renegade with the gas engine.

The Autozone alternator I ordered is 160 amp - the same as the AC Delco at Rockauto. I saw alternators for these vehicles between 120 and 160 amp.

I would be very interested in knowing the details of the rebuilder near Hanover. Please post the info or message me.

We used to have an excellent rebuilder nearby. His shop burnt and he retired. I've been stung a couple of times by the remaining local rebuilder.

I still have my core that is the original one from my Jeep that I would like for them to rebuild.
I have been putting it off for several months now...
