Just starting my second week of vacation. Last week I was 500 miles away up north (in Abitibi) for the week. Did 44 and then 45 mpg... with my Yaris. no wonder why the Jeep stayed home. Keeping track of all this here: https://www.fuelly.com/driver/brunolambert

Taking the :JEEPIN: for this week's camping :CAMPING: with the boy and big spouse (big 'cuz pregnant).

It's real close, but we'll need the room. Plus, Jeeps are made for camping.

I just had a full conversation about lifting a Liberty with a random guy in a grocery store parking lot this evening. He drove by slowly in his red Mustang and then circled around and stopped. He asked me what kind of Jeep it was and if it was lifted. He had never seen a lifted Liberty with "knobby tires." Now he says he is thinking of getting one! And I got to do a little free advertising for Jeepin by Al in the process. :JEEPIN:

I'm signing up for some additional designation courses at work. My company provides a cash bonus for each of these that I pass and that money will go straight towards my lift fund. It's a win-win; I'll get a couple more designations and will be that much closer to my lift!

I start my fall semester tonight.... blah! I had the whole summer off, and did all online classes this past Spring semester. I almost forgot how much it sucks to have a full time job, and night classes... Who's idea was it for me to go back to school? Oh yeah.... me! :juggle:

Road trip tonight. Taking a buddy of mine, who just happens to be my boss, to JFK airport tonight. Looking forward to hearing his comments about the Jeep since he's never been in it before. My girlfriend is coming along for the ride so I won't be too bored on the way back.

You live close to the airport? I just looked up on Google and it's about an hour and 30 minutes from my location which means I'll be able to make it there and back on a single tank without a problem.

Depending on traffic(and how you drive) I'm anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour East lol.

Make sure you go with a full tank. I've had times where it has taken me 4 hours to get from the verrazano bridge to Lindenhurst. It's normally 40minutes or so to do that...

Yeah, I'm filling up tonight before I go. We're leaving around midnight/1A.M. so hopefully not much traffic to worry about. The LEAST amount of miles to a tank I've had with the new throttle body has been 345 and that was mixed driving.
Gotta pick up my boss from his house tonight and he lives about 20 minutes closer to New York than I do.

       I haven't seen anything close to that since I was stock! Highest I've seen since the lift and tires is about 250-260...

I know Bmxer... I'm trying to inform the Jeep world here without bragging tooooooooooooo much! The worst I have ever gotten was 260ish in the dead of Winter with lots of stopping, 4x4, no airdam, and defrosters on high.
When I got the new tires I was averaging about 301-315 miles. New throttle body has added at least 40 miles per tank. Only been through about 4 tanks or so. Still tracking my mileage like a hawk. :goink:

Looking at buying headlights with fogs. I fought some on amazon for $101 each, but they have fogs and are the jet headlights. Is that a fair price?

Yup that's a good price.

Random thought for the day:

Doing maintenance on a 6 HP push mower seems like child's play after working on my Jeep. :goink:

For the first time in 10 years I have a little yard to take care of.

Had a nice laugh this morning when I looked up the EPA's rating for the 2008 Jeep Liberty. Only 15 mpg for city. I've never gotten that low before.

I'm fairly certain that I have.

I've been too busy to check out the source of my potential oil leak. There was a fresh drop underneath it this morning when I got to work and the skid plate is well-covered. But I checked the oil at lunch and it seems fine. I'm bringing it to my buddy's shop after work so we can jack it up and I can get on a creeper.

I also made an appointment to have the DuraTracs mounted tomorrow morning. :D

I know recently one or two members said their oil pan needed to be replaced, so check that and the oil filter. Maybe do an oil change yourself. Start with the cheap stuff...

It was on the stock Wranglers. I was using them as a winter tire but I think I'll just leave them on for good now.

I brought it to my buddy's shop last night and he jacked it up and took a look. It was soaked underneath. He noticed that the oil filter was pretty wet so he started there. Of course he couldn't get his hand to it but reached in with a filter wrench. He said when he touched it the whole filter wiggled. So it seems like it was loose. He tightened it a bit so we'll see how it goes from here. Hopefully that's all it was.

Given that it seems like such a PITA to change oil yourself I have shops do it. But if the dealer couldn't put the darn filter back on correctly then it makes me second guess them.
