Hi Guys, just some feedback. I have taken off the turbo and took it to Turbo Exchange, where they did a test on the actuator booty well as the turbo. They couldnt find anything wrong with both. Put the turbo back on, bought a MAP sensor replace it, no change... Im out of ideas now, I think the inlet pressure sensor (on the filter box) is the only sensor left and then the unit that controls the vacuum actuated EGR valve. Any suggestions...

Thank you in advance

If you are still throwing P0299, have you REALLY checked your hoses and intercooler for leaks? It's not the kind of thing that you can necessarily find just by putting your mouth on one hose and blowing. Do something like this http://www.myturbodiesel.com/wiki/boost-leak-tester-leaking-turbo-symptoms-how-to-fix/ and see if you have a leak, maybe one that only opens up at higher boost pressures.

Air inlet pressure sensor only detects restricted air filter as far as I can work out. See post Sept. 29 re air inlet pressure sensor circuit disable.

I chased a p0299 to the end of the earth an back and stumbled into a plugged catalytic converter. Cleaned it out and has been running like a champ.

Hi Guys, got the culprit at last! Thanks to George, reminding me to do a thorough leak test. Took of the hoses/pipes one by one and pressure tested it. The last one, between the intercooler and the intake manifold, got a huge tear at the bottom. Just amazes me that it doesnt make a loud hissing sound!

Again to everyone that gave an input, much appreciated!

Glad you got it! I can't tell you how many times I've had the principle proven to me: start with the easy, obvious solutions. We are ALL (all of us here, all scientists, etc.) prone to confirmation bias. And when we have just read the latest LOST horror story about how a bent Macklin rod can cause P0299, we are likely to start looking for and finding evidence of Macklin rod damage.

As our little diesels get older with higher mileage they are prone to have more problems! This forum is a godsend, as a group to those few of us that are lucky enough to own one, for help and support to diagnose and repair these problems. Dealers for the most part have never even seen or worked on one so they are of no help other than throwing parts at a problem. This forum has saved a lot of people many dollars by providing experienced on line diagnostic support. L.O.S.T. is GREAT! :-)r
