Please write here!Hi! I have a problem with my KJ 2.8 CRD 1902 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS, it takes water smoke condensation in the exhaust gas, will be fine with fridge art seal in 300 mil, no water in oil no exhaust gases in the water, the peaks are checked the new gasket new bolts, someone has an idea. Best Wishes, David I would add that the KJ can pull 1 1.1 litre mil with trailer two scooters, four pärsoner, full gasket fine features on all switches. One more thing the catalyst, I have cleared because glykolen in the water which made it became dense (I think) hope someone can explain. My engine is test press t, When it is hot, hold the pressure for five six hours with five-pound pressure then drops to two miles of where it stops, as I previously wrote the no water when I run and it is warm, the water is pushed out, as steam, screw the radiator CAP, when I'm hot and screws on before I start smoking it almost nothing If you have an idea or want to ask questions about this were I am very grateful. (the water can get into the Turbo) Love my JEEP

You've previously removed the catconv due to suspected glycol contamination -
removing the rad cap resuts in quickly overheating -
symptoms can be resulted due to:
- coolant leakage into and back thru EGR system
- coolant leakage into exhaust due to blown head gasket or cracked head across exhaust port, maybe thru exhaust valve seat - this can leak coolant into exhaust port without leaking exhaust gasses back into water jacket

You'll likely need to pull the head for further examination

Can you describe the 'fridge art seal'? Fridge art seal is unfamiliar terminology, here, where 'fridge' is abbreviated form of 'refrigerator'.

I do hope you're not describing a pour-in leak sealer, which can be anything from cereal meal to processed mineral fiber, not even good in the water-jacket of a turbocharged Diesel engine..................

Also, the engine coolant system should be tested at radiator cap pressure, ~16-18psi, hot or cold - your 5psi test is not enough to cause indication of your described leakage

Where are you from please? I note this is not posted. You may have more luck writing it as you normally would as the translators are not so good at the technical words/terms.
Some of us may be able to read but not write in your language to help with the translation....I can read the technical aspects of a few languages but not necessarily speak them fluently as do some others here. That may help you.

You ask where I'm from, I'm from Sweden, will soon be 80 years my hobbies are hunting, fishing, what i have in the water is NO LEAK cooling system treatment from u.s.a. I'm not so good at English hope it goes in all cases

Hej qvarna1936, from the symptoms you describe, you may have a EGR cooler leak. An EGR cooler leak would leak into the intake, be consumed by the motor and pass out the exhaust through the turbo and CAT. :roll:
This condition would see a loss of coolant, no exhaust in the coolant, and no pressure build in the coolant system as with a head gasket leak. :(
I would either bypass the EGR cooler or remove it and cap the EGR pipes to rule out the EGR cooler as the leak source!!!!

Too many concepts in error with your post, WW - think it thru, past encouraging someone to rip out the EGR system, as you have done...........

Coolant leak in EGR is possible, and very probable, but for coolant to be getting into the exhaust system, it would need to be passing around thru the EGR pipe at the rear of the engine, thence directly into exhaust header - any coolant passing into intake system would encounter combustion temperatures way beyond that required to produce super-heated steam - result would be unnoticeable in exhaust system - any more than that would cause flame-out and hydro-lock in the cylinders

Eliminate any back-feed due to EGR failure, then look for coolant leakage into exaust port area, where coolant pressure would be higher than exhaust gas pressure when BOOST pressure requirement is low-to-none

As a long time mechanic over many years on many types of vehicles, I personally have observed and repaired vehicles over the years with many types of cooling system problems! I have also personally observed vehicles running with water vapor or liquid dripping from their tailpipes due to either leaking EGR cooler or cracked cylinder head in the exhaust valve region allowing coolant to escape out of the motor into the exhaust system. IT Does Happen!!!!

He asked for advise, not you, and I simply gave him one option to think about, there are more. You certainly can disagree with advise given on this forum and post your own, but please do not try and insult posters who are simply trying to help a fellow CRD owner!!!! :2cents:

So, then we can agree that liquid coolant from a leaking liquid-cooled EGR assembly cannot pass into the intake system, thru the high compression combustion chamber of a running Diesel engine, thence into the exhaust system and commence steaming and possibly dripping from the tailpipe.......?

According to the laws of conservation of energy, matter cannot be created or destroyed, but it can change states.

Is it so hard to imagine that either way the water gets into the exhaust track, that it can condense (partly) back to liquid at the far end of the pipe and drip from the tail, while some still remains steam?

Whether it leaks into the intake from the EGR tube at the intake end (and is flashed to steam by the combustion chamber) or leaks into the EGR tube and is blown into the exhaust by boost pressure... Water is STILL IN THE EXHAUST.

The EGR valve cooler and the head gasket. These are the ONLY TWO PLACES where water and exhaust are close to each other. If the coolant bottle is not pressurized, then the head gasket is most likely doing just fine. The EGR piping and EGR cooler have been known to be failure points on other vehicles.

Depending on the emissions inspections (if any) of your country, removing or bypassing the EGR cooler to remove the leak point is not a bad idea, but it may be illegal. We cannot help you in that decision. It does seem that the EGR cooler is the source of your leak from what I can understand in this thread.

How true (not about the pretty stuff, tho :roll: ) about conservation of energy and matter changing state, and nowhere is it more easily demonstrated than in a Diesel engine, whereby a homogenous mixture of H2O and ethylene\propylene glycol squirted into the intake tract can quickly change state and become aluminum (piston) shards in the oil pan, eh..................... :wink:

Point being: yes, suspect the EGR assy first, being easiest to eliminate - thence to the exhaust port area
