We ran trail 2N33 today, 5/20, and I think it will be a pretty cool trail for our club to adopt. It is a fairly long trail but easy. I only had to put my XJ in 4wd twice and one time was for an optional obstacle and hill climb. It needs some repair work and some cleaning up of garbage in one area in particular but overall I think it will be fairly easy to take care of. It is a very scenic trail with great views of Silverwood lake along most of the trail. The last stretch of the trail winds through a nice shady, tree lined area that is pretty cool. There are also a couple water crossing spots that I bet would be decent after rains or snow melt runoff.
I think it would also make for a great beginner trail or perhaps an easy night run trail.
2N17X, a Hard trail, runs right into it and would make for a challenging trail if people wanted to play on it after a cleanup day. 2N33 is also close enough to the rest of Big Bear that we could do other trails up there on the same day as a clean up day.

Anyhow, Please post if you would be willing to donate a day or two every few months to head up there and work on KJ WEST's trail. (Assuming they let us adopt it)

Ted is going to get me all the info, and then we can apply for the trail.
I will keep everyone posted on how the adoption is coming along.
Maybe after that then we can make a schedule for the clean up days that way we can all make plans for being there.
JJ is right, the trail is a great trail and it would be even better if it would have a great bunch of people looking after it.

Well, here I sat down to do something about the trail and it's already been done! Thanks, JJ, great job; and thanks to all the others who've responded so quickly.

Special thanks to Annette for stepping up and agreeing to be the AAT Liaison. She'll be the one trying to schedule trail patrols and yanking us out of our comfortable existences.

And of course I'll be there to help and will be looking forward to it.

What a great day, for the most part. Man what these KJ's can do. That will be another post.

As for the adopt a trail, I think ths would be a great trail to sponsor, can be done in a stock vehicle with a couple dif trails here and there, It has some great views of the lake and if you bring the family you could do time at the lake.

I would volunteer but, I leave in 2 months, so my vote doesn't count.

But I do have some pics of the views.

Here is a couple the rest at the website.

Great pics, Will. Glad you got some - I sure didn't. Thanks for sharing. And your vote does too count so long as you're here. Maybe we'll even have a trail day before you leave. But if nothing else you were part of the pioneering crew and the special commemorative placque will have your name. Well, maybe no placque but we'll write your name somewhere..

JJ, I've done the right side, but with my Wrangler and even then I had a hard time. I didn't just ride up and over. But it can be done and done better.

BTW, many of the illegal bypasses contain some challenging sections - don't ask how i know. Until they're eliminated they could be fun too. We may have to run them just to find out about them. Dang!

We've now gotten enough responses to go ahead with the adoption and the paper work is in process. I've also arranged to get credit for the run we just made, so we'll be off to a flying start. Woo Hoo! :D
