Lastnight it dropped down to -41 but now it's -33 with the windchill and the check engine light came on. :furious:

Trying to get a hold of my buddy that works at a autobody/paint shop to see if I can use their scanner.

It always happens when it's freezing. This morning my drive to work, more than one time the dome lights randomly came on and I heard the interior door chime come on. I finally caught it so that the read out said "gate" and noticed it would happen every time I stepped on the accelerator hard enough. Hopefully it was just not fully latched although I haven't opened it in a while.

That's probably what happened, don't see why else it would come on for you. I hate the cold weather, I'm fine with snow but freezing temperatures like this I don't deal well with. The KK also feels very stiff too, even when it warms up for 15 minutes.. I even hear sounds when it's this cold that I don't hear when it's warm

agreed. used to drive a Pontiac before my KK, winter ride quality was the same as summer ride. I know mine rides pretty stiff in winters. rode stiff stock as well. but here in pa the coldest ive seen was -12 degrees, and that was last year. the only issues I have encountered is just the Sirius radio not working in temps below 20 degrees until the car interior warms up a good bit.

I notice that my ride is rougher in the cold. I think it has to do with the cold thickening up the fluid in the shocks.

I was thinking that as well. air shocks don't suffer from this insignificant issue.

I know that there's 12v heater strips out there, wonder if putting a strip on each of the shocks and plugging the strips in over night. exactly like a block heater design.

So I have a question. If I understand correctly, backspace and offset are basically different ways of measuring the same thing(in regards to how a wheel will sit). So say we have an 8" wide rim with 4.5" of backspacing. Offset would be 0, correct? Same would work vice versa.

Now here is where I'm stumped. Looking at wheels, I'm seeing a set that's 8" wide with 6 offset and 4.5" of backspacing. How is that possible?

Here's the link for the wheels:
http://www.4wheelparts.com/Wheels/La-Pa ... A5029-6865

I'm not planning on buying those wheels, I'm just stumped here...

Has anyone replaced the front tweeters in the dash before? I have a set of speakers for it I would like to install bit for the life of me cannot figure out how to remove that top lip of the dash.
I've read up on it through the forum but no luck.

I also don't know if I'll find speaker leads

Update on the check Engine light. Still haven't gotten around to my friends to use his scanner, but this could be related. There was oil spill right under the drip spout under the oil filter (Granny smith apple size) I checked the filter, it's snug. The oil level is good, and it hasn't been 5,000 km yet since last change. I just want to get the code from my friends scanner so when I go to the dealership, I don't have to pay for them to scan it, just find out what's wrong based on the code(s) it threw.

EDIT: oh and since it's -30 and I'm worried about what's wrong, I snapped my grill in two places, breaking one clip under the left headlight :banghead:

elm Bluetooth scanner is dirt cheep. buy one. don't get any Wi-Fi model. trust me, their a PITA!!! not very many useful programs listen in on the port it uses. elm Bluetooth dongle is widely programed in 99.999% of obd2 software.

Thanks for the advice. I actually was just searching diagnostic scanners up, and found this one on Amazon. It has a lot of good reviews.

they are most likely soldered in, not clipped in. tweeters are the "center" channel, so they are in mono. you would never be able to tell if they were or were not anyways.

I was thinking about it. those tweeters probably are rated close to 10-15 watts each, but are hooked up in mono in stock configuration. Im not going to be much help here, but why would you want to "upgrade" the tweeters? well unless you have subs 2 amps and an aftermarket head unit. I personally wouldn't touch those tweeters unless I had an audio processor and 2 amps. 1 for the sub and the other amp for the door speakers and tweeter.

that is unless you blew the tweeters out somehow...

8" wide rim with 4.5" backspace has a 6mm offset. 13mm is about an inch. So an 8" rim with 0mm offset would have a 4" of backspace. There's just vad measurements somewhere.

yes, that would work, but your really limiting yourself on the information you get. if you get a obd2 to usb or obd2 to Bluetooth, the only limit is the program you use.

heres the model I use. http://www.amazon.com/Vgate-Bluetooth-Scanner-TORQUE-ANDROID/dp/B00AAOOQJC/ref=sr_1_6?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1424443621&sr=1-6&keywords=obd+ii+scanner

there are better and faster adapters then this one, but it gets the job done.

Every chart I've looked at says 4.5" of backspacing on an 8" wide wheel is 0 offset. Idk anymore. I think I'm just gonna buy 16x8 method race wheels with 4.5" of backspacing/0 offset and hope they sit like those pro comps. I like how they sit on every KK I've seen run them...

Mine jeep didn't come with them so it would be an extra couple of speakers. Thanks for the help PA

yours didn't come with them sock???? really? strange... well what you could do is hook the tweeters up to the front driver and passenger side doors. you will have a stereo center channel, and it will sound a bit strange unless you get an amp with 4 channels out plus a center voice channel. just make sure if you hook them up to the doors, you have a very good capacitor to take out the boom booms. tweeters can obviously only produce high end frequencies and if you introduce mids and lows to it, it will shorten the life span of the tweeter. I don't think I can stress the good capacitor any more though, its very important.

id recommend throwing the tweeters on the A pillar. a lot less time involved!

You sure it didn't come with tweeters? They're up on the dashboard by the windshield and a-pillars. I think all KKs have them, but lose the sub if you don't have the stereo package.

I think I have a blown speaker or 2 now.

Well I got the code. I bought oil and a filter just now, luckily the brands I buy were on sale but now it's starting to snow quite a bit and it's too cold so that will have to be put on hold.

Now for the code, it read P0562 - System Voltage Low

I looked up possible causes are they are:
- Low battery charge
- Battery defective
- Loose or missing alternator drive belt
- Faulty alternator
- Open or short system voltage circuit

I'm thinking the battery was just weak because that night before I started it, it dropped down to -40 and then stayed between -30 to -40 all day. I did have it plugged it, but at this point I'm just going to wait for warm weather and hopefully it goes away.
