Hello, I am fairly new to the forum here. I'm working through all of the wonderful information. I bought my first crd back in may of last year and love it. I love it so much that am looking at another one to purchase. I wish I had known a little bit more before I purchased my first one; however I didn't. So id like to have a list of things to check when I go and look at it. I'm sure this has already been discussed however I couldn't find it quickly and i'm going to look at the jeep in the next day or too. I'm aware of the timing belt and gde tune. I'm looking for a more specific checklist of things to check any and all input would be appreciated.

The jeep I will be looking at is an 06 with 100k timing belt and water pump replaced (with receipts)

You pretty much named the 2 things you need to check, the timing belt and a tune. But of course you have oil and other fluid and filter changes, plus the turbo intake hose from the air filter tends to crack from flexing and heat, boost hoses are unpredictable, I am still running my OE ones. I hope you checked to see if your cooling system is getting pressurized from a bad head gasket? If you have any other concerns just ask I am sure someone here has seen or heard it before, just ask.

And welcome to your ownership of a unique vehicle. :JEEPIN:

How exactly would you check to see if the head gasket is bad? I just had to replace the thermostat.

the big flag on head gasket is that you have to add water.

the quick check is on a cold engine - remove the radiator/overflow cap - to make sure no pressure

replace the cap - start the engine for a couple of minutes - then recheck the cap

if you built pressure, any pressure - odds are it's the head gasket.

(there are test kits at the auto parts stores for exhaust in the coolant - to confirm)
