Don't forget to 86 parkways too lol.

I love GM powerplants. I like the old school push rod designs. The power and efficiency they get out of their small blocks is amazing.

I feel bad for anyone who HASN'T driven a V8 carbureted vehicle.
My last car had that combo and 300 horsepower. I don't mind going slow in a Jeep now. 8)

I've driven my share of older cars. Worked on plenty too. Still work on 2 carb'd 454s. Those are in one of our boats. 35' and will do every bit of 70mph on the water...

What do you have for a boat?

The main boat is a 71 Pacemaker. 38', set up for ocean fishing. It's been completely overhauled. We glassed in the front windows, changed the rear wall, redone the interior multiple times, put a tower and outriggers on it, swapped the original 454s for twin 6 cyl Volvo diesels and tons of other stuff that I'm guaranteed to forget.

The other is a 35' Nexus(basically a cigarette boat). Forgot the year, but I think it's late 80s. It has twin 454s, both worked(bored a little, more aggressive cam).

And the 3rd is a little center console(I think it's only 20-23'), that we got for a steal. Our buddy that owns a boat yard needed it out handed it off. Nice summer project and runs fairly well now.

Love my boats(wouldn't live without them, and can't leave the island because of it), but they're 2nd homes. They're great until you suffer from that disease called "lack of funds" lol

Nice. I grew up on boats. My dad had a 22' Larson bow rider with a 454. He traded that in for a 2004ish 25' Nordic Rage with a 496. He later sold that for a 1998 Cigarette Top Gun with twin 540s.

you have to need a CDL for that truck!

id love a tall truck, not little guy big truck syndrome at all, but I like seeing over the tops of peoples roofs. I feel like an ant when a larger vehicle pulls up next to me... then our throttles are wide open. you already know who wins. it was me versus some v8 Rover yesterday. you bet I whooped his britches!!!

I'll have to hunt down what I have. But these are from Sandy as the storm came in. We rode the storm out in my grandpa's house. 6' of water on the property and about 2" away from being in the house.

Image

The Pacemaker is the 2nd from the left. We took the outriggers off for the storm.

Image

Same day, that's the Cigarette boat. The lift went a few weeks before so she sat in the water for a week or 2(hence the discoloration on the hull). She's basically the project boat. She sat for a while and then had an electrical fire. Finally getting it up and running and the lift is going so she might spend the rest of her life in the water and get a painted hull :banghead: She tends to get put on the back burner though...

I'll have to see what else I can find. Most will probably be of the Pacemaker.

Edit:
I couldn't leave off without a ride pic lol

Image
Heading out to a local cover for the weekend at the beginning of a season after not getting hauled for 2 years. She had a hard time getting up....you can imagine I spent a lot of time under her with a scraper that weekend.

Image
That's from a local paper here. They took a picture of us coming out of a local marina and sent us the cover. We average about 18mph cruising and top end is about 26mph. As you can tell, I don't know knots too well lol. She's not slow for her age. And thanks to the diesels we burn next to nothing.

Thanks! That's honestly my favorite of the bunch. My grandpa got it in the 90s after Hurricane Andrew. He had all the damage repaired and kept it for the family. Since my dad and I have taken over maintenance and repairs, he's the captain now lol. She draws 4' of water idling so it's actually very easy to drive. He taught me how to back it in and everything when I was about 10.

You could just do what Bmxer524 did. He's got a lot of lift.
Coilovers are probably best for a steel bumper though.

right. according to Morgan the bumper I like would weigh near 100LBs plus the lighting and the winch. lighting would probably be only 2 lbs or less and the winch, what, like 20 LBs or so.

sort of bummed though. just bought new shocks for the front. any one need some HD Bilstiens?

You do know there are other ways to lift, I ran an ARB front bumper, tons heavier skids / rockrails etc than what you have with OME 927s for 100,000 miles. No problems at all. Also had the same bumper etc when I tested the Ironman again at 4 inches of lift and no issues. Of course if you think you need extra the OME 790s are always an option as well and rated at 500 lbs will hold up anything
Agree the coilovers are the best out there for sure BUT there is other ways to lift / and get rid of a crappy ride on spacers
