I've had my 4.7 TB w/ CAI on for 3 months or more now, and I really don't notice any change in MPGs. Given she's a stick and all the Mods/ equip I run on her, I do not expect stellar MPGs, I just chock it up the the proce I pay for driving an awesome modded Jeep. I do notice more responsive throttle though, and that's good enough for me :D

I have no idea why your getting that bad of mileage!!! Im lifted with 31s and I have probably close to 700lbs extra weight due to my batteries and solar panel and I still get better mileage then you do. I get around 21 to 23.

1. replace air filter if it kinda looks dirty.
2. clean off the maf sensor.
3. make sure vacuum line is in the air intake box!
4. disconnect the battery.
5. check injectors.
6. take it out of 4x4 on the highway! :ROTFL:

Hi PA (and Gage) I am also very keen to get this mod done (4.7 TB) I have found a chap here in SA who does mods etc to Jeep & Chrysler vehicles and I told him about it - he had not heard about it here, and he is very interested as well. He has found out that the 4.7 TB off the WH series is the one to look for as it fits with minimal mods and will work!! however not too many available in SA. we are both looking. he is prepared to use my KK as a test baby so to speak and do the mod and monitor on a dyna before and after and offer the mod as a service if it works.. can't wait to get it done!! I will post pics and test results as they come.. :5SHOTS:

All the info that is needed on the mod is on the first few pages.
You need the correct 4.7L throttle body with electronic throttle.
Correct rubbler coupler. Size will depend if you have a cold air intake (recommended by me), or stock intake tube.
You can run this on a stock programmed KK or if you have the extra money, get a Hypertech programmer.
Still very happy I did the mod. Highway driving is easier for the Jeep, and it's easier to get up to speed from a dead stop.

Just to clarify for those that don't know, the WH is the overseas WK. Virtually identical to the US spec. Anyways, as long as it's an electronic 4.7 throttle body it should work. So that would be 08+ Rams, Grands, etc. I don't think they'd change them too much.

So, got the 4.7l throttle body on.

Not sure if it wasn't mentioned in previous posts or its just a 2012 thing, but there are 2 posts on the left side of the manifold that need to be chopped off. The posts are millimeters from proper alignment.

I disconnected the battery to reset the ECU. The ECU learned the new throttle body in 2 gas pedal presses. Brought the rpm up to 2k rpm with the first two presses.

I'll be easy on her for 4 more days then ill drive normally.

Is it off the original stock intake, or the new throttle body? Keep us posted with how this goes. I'm starting to think about it for my KK.

Why are you taking it easy on it? Just curious ?

Nope, its on a 2.80 id intake tubes. A 90, straight pipe, and a 45 with an oiled filter. I'm thinking oiled filter on road and paper filter off road just for added protection against the dust.

The 4.7l Tb is hooked up to the above.

And I saw a glimpse of my money going to work on the highway from class tonight. Usually at 60 mph, rpms hold steady around 2200. Tonight was around 1850.

Knowing the system is not tuned yet, but the rpms that low.... I'm very curious to see if I can make it on one tank to Virginia in a couple of weeks.

Knowing the system is running lean, mileage won't be recorded for a week or so. I was shocked on how quick the system learned that there was a different Tb on there. The engine sounds slightly better, and it did also with the stock Tb paired with the after market air intake. I wonder what it would sound like with the paper filters on?

Just like gage, I to am very curious with these results. Its either going to give me better fuel economy or drop me into the single digits. Which for the past 5 weeks I have been rocking....

Lol tom :ROTFL: :ROTFL: :ROTFL: too funny! I just want the computer to get a little more tuned before I "flat on the floor" it. :SOMBRERO: 250 idle! Must sound like a diesel? Mine still idled around 550.

I could tell getting up to speed was a lot easier and it held the speed rather very well going up a steep long hill going 50, which we kk owners know isn't the sweat speed spot!

He means 250' lol. Mine doesn't even go into OD at 50. So I sit around 2k in 3rd. It's all fine until I speed up a mph or 2 and she shift into OD or I let off the gas. 55 is the spot where I can hit OD babying it and then she lugs.

Mine has always chugged along in 3rd at 1500 rpm. The Tb seemed to raise that to around 1700 rpm.

Well, everything right now is sort of just thoughts. I'll post some real numbers after its done running lean.

And the total cost for me bmxr was about 220 bucking broncos. Money so far well spent.

The only thing that was a pain was finding the Tb.

If it dropped to 1850 ( which I can't see how it could ) but at that RPM then its going to be chugging along and not burning efficient.
Mines always ran better at a little higher RPM instead of letting it lope/chug along
