Bad shocks will in fact cause issues with tire wear, extra wear on suspension parts etc.
Bad shocks on a vehicle causes you to lose braking distances due to them not keeping the tires on the road
In curves bad shocks causes the vehicle to skid more again since the tire is bouncing instead of being firmly planed on the road

Thanks tom and NAM. The shocks actually turned out to be fine. I did some investigation and found out the driver side outer tie rod ball joint is bone dry. Which is what is creaking. I am replacing it tomorrow with a moog assembly. Weather their any good or not, its going on, and will be replaced when I have the funds for a proper lift. I only have 40 lb cinder blocks and a scissor jack. I think its time to upgrade... haha.

Installed proper dot approved side markers on my solar panel today. I'll post a picture of them tomorrow. I'm thinking of a day time marker set up just like the lights on top of a truck roof. I'd have them always on when the car is running and blink when needed to.

I also had bought an air compressor for the jeep and did a basic mod to it. I chopped off the cigarette lighter plug, extended the cord by 5 foot and put battery terminal clamps on. The compressor was pretty expensive for plastic. But has the potential to go up to 150 psi. It took about 7 minutes to fully inflate a 245\75 tire at 40 psi. It took a lot longer to get up to 45psi.

So heres the video of the lights...

I drove over 50 miles today not realizing that the front roof turn signals were switched. I could have sworn that they were hooked up properly. guess not...

But otherwise, heres them at night time. I may post another proper video of them tomorrow when I fix the issue and maybe improve upon it again adding more markers.

Not really jeep related, but I installed my spare server in the garage for some needed Sirius xm music.

And I am on a marker spending spree. I bought 4 more markers. 2 of which I know that are going on. I may just keep the two as spares. I'll post a photo of them actually hooked up properly in the morning sometime.

Maybe add one inside the wheel wells somewhere. I've seen it look really nice on a dually truck before. I think Tom has mentioned if I'm not mistaken, that he has them installed there.

Interesting Gage. But, I already have to many lights on... haha

Heres the completed video of the lights. Not sure why its so blurry, my dslr usually takes pretty good quality videos in the dark.

so I may be crazy for doing this... but I have been in the process of making my Jeep a media server Jeep. meaning im installing a router, low power server, receiver, monitor, and user device.

the reason why I am doing this is because I am sick and tired of Bluetooth audio quality and constantly plugging in an auxiliary jack into my daily driver phone.

so I went the totally ridiculous route and went over kill by installing the said items above. I am having my music being currently stored on my expensive flash drive due to the improved bitrate of the music. each music file is no smaller then 40MB. a regular song you download from iTunes or the play store is on average 4MB. im somewhat of an audiophile.

I am still not done with the install, but hopefully will be by tomorrow when ups gets here...

all of these items are on 24.7 or are shut down after 2 hours of inactivity and run off of my solar panel system.

if any of you remember I did have another "media server" but the usb codeing on the device was written so bad! my usb drives kept disconnecting from the "server". so I returned that POS. I spent more then I should have on my current system.

I do have a video of the installation from Thursday. and that is not how it will look like. the router is and will be hidden. ill post a picture or video of the 100% completed installation and how it functions.

ok. so the media player I had bought 2 days ago, today was telling me the files it were able to read a few minutes ago were not compatible with the media player.

so me Being really :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: , I went to best buy to purchase a blue ray dvd player with DLNA compatibility. I literally just got done with installing it in the jeep, and besides Chinese POS monitor, it works flawlessly with the router, video adapter, and DLNA server. I just bought a better larger monitor from amazon. ill be working outside cleaning my sidewalk tomorrow, so ill be playing the media from there to test if the install is stable.

guys, when we go to rausch creek, bring me a blue ray to play... hahahaha. ill probably do that for my passengers on the way up there on Saturday. what do you think? the note book or saving private Ryan???

im so excited about this!!! though my batteries that supply the power to my cabin electronics were pretty much destroyed this winter. the 2 flooded lead acid batteries and 4 AGM batteries held up for 2 years! pretty short life time, but the 4 AGM batteries were cheep. so when they get replaced sometime before next winter, ill throw either 4 or 6 50AH batteries in there. AGM.

Ill post the final picture and video once I get the monitor in on Thursday. the 4 inch POS Chinese crap is hard to read, and especially since I have it on the passenger side. that's where the larger monitor is going. 7 inch monitor. I should be able to read it... better at least.

finished up the media server today. looks good in my mind!

here's the monitor I bought. the text is clear enough for the driver that I can not see any pixels and is just the perfect size.

I also hooked up my camera that I had installed underneath well before the lift, it was under the drivers seat looking across to the passengers seat to view the clearance the jeep had. but that camera is now installed at the front of the bumper looking down so I can see what rocks or boulders I can not see when the only thing I usually see is sky.

bought this from the junkyard today. from a bronco. it almost bolts up with the cross member closest to the transfer case. the skid may be strong enough to not need a custom fabricated cross member. ill be buying 2 more skids.

You have all of this electronic stuff and my stock radio hasn't even been on in months, last time there was a CD in the player was December 8th, 2008 ( right before my wife flew back home)
I like peace and quiet and the sound of the engine and tires on trips

same here. every now and then ill take an hour drive to anywhere and let it be silent. but on my trips to Virginia I always have my country music playing.

the main reason why I installed all of that stuff was to have studio like audio without the need of my phone. and so far, im very pleased with all of the install.

Going to the junkyard wednesday for a spare rim. The correct sized one this time. I'll make a template of my doughnut spare. I may snatch a couple of skid plates as well, but am in the process of having my local hardware store order a 1/4" thick sheet as a skid for the gas tank and 3/16" (I believe that's the thickness I want) for the front end skids. I will be buying 1 or 2 cross members from any vehicle and chop it to size as well from the junk yard. Wednesday and Friday will be very busy jeep mod days in preparation for Saturday.

Still haven't gotten my tow hooks in. They better be in tomorrow!!!

Other then those listed, no issues currently.

Going for an oil change Monday before I head out for Virginia this summer. So ill be Mia for a couple of weeks knowing you guys are working at a desk and I'm out there off roading and having fun every day. Be jealous! :goink:

Do you have a hitch? You can get a d-ring receiver and d-ring to go in the hitch. That will give you the rear tow hook. Better than nothing ya know?

You could even just use the pin and a tow strap with loops for the end if you don't have time or short on money.

Sometime this year or next I'm buying ATH front and rear bumpers, so I'm not going to go too crazy on tow points. I'll have 2 on the rear, one fail over. And for the front just one. Because if that fails the diff mount could double as a second. As well as an absolute last hand attempt, the front cross member.

I did attempt to get ATHs front shackle brackets, but seems to be that he is a bit short on material and the guy that makes them is supposedly Mia. Don't quote me on this though.

I am very short on time, but, here's what I need to install or buy:

Full size tire
Front and rear recovery
1-3 skid plates
1-2 crops members for the skid plates
Air filter sock (not necicary, but I like a clean engine

So I have all of my tools in a tool box now so that's an added 25 or so pounds to the jeep. Hopefully they won't be needed on trail anytime this summer.

And no I do not have a hitch yet, and I won't till I get ATH front and rear bumpers. Which I want so badly! My rear bumper is so screwed up.
