Over the last few days I've finally lifted my CRD. Wasn't that difficult thanks to everybody's help on here (special mention to Tom Mudd). :D

Now I have to step 3.75" higher thanks to OME shocks & springs, 1/4" clevis spacer & 1/2" rear iso's. The extra 3/4" courtesy of Cooper Discoverer STT 245 70 17. (31.5" wheels)

After a few days of driving on the new set-up I'm happy with the ride; feels no firmer than before (I believe Jeep ship KK's to the UK with firmer suspension than in the US for some reason). Only downside is the extra noise from the STT's over my previous AT2's.

Still can't imagine how unstoppable a CRD KK is. Is it manual or auto?

The CRD has a nice fat wave of torque from low down, I think it's at peak around 1,750 rpm. Never had any times when I've needed more power & with low down grunt you can usually squirt yourself over the obstacle with a light tap on the accelerator.

Its an auto; gone are the days of being sat in traffic constantly working the clutch, I'm lazy :P

The only drawback I've found (once) is when I managed to get myself bogged down in mud & had to wait for a tow. I couldn't pop it forwards / backwards quick enough to rock myself clear as the auto box just doesn't swap gears as quick as a manual. That was before I lifted it so was a little too cautious with my speed for fear of sumping it. With that little extra height I'm running now I'm a lot less gentle when getting on the loud pedal

edit: I'm junking the Discoverer STT's they're too noisy for my liking, they were a set of cheap part-worns anyway that had been abused with chunks missing out of the tread from heavy rock crawling. I'm taking delivery of a new set of BFG T/A KO AT's tomorrow. Never used them before, usually used General Grabber AT's but fancied a change, hopefully I wont be disappointed with their performance.

Installed some flush mounted LED lights in the rear bumper. Painted the black metal face the factory silver color for a nicer look. Its wired to both a switch and to the reverse lights with a one way diode inline to prevent the reverse lights from coming on when I flick the switch. Not sure it would but would rather keep the TIPM happy and not send stray volts its way.

Well, this morning I traded the keys in for a VW Jetta.

But only for the weekend. The fiance is taking it for a weekend camping trip. The KK is a lot better to sleep in if it rains than her car is. :JEEPIN:

Here's how well it's matched with my current paint. A little buffing and soap and they'll be a flawless match. Highly recommend TouchUp Direct for your color match paint source...wow...

Had some fun with the winch the other day. My Dad had a maple tree fall across his drive way. So I cut it up and used the winch to haul the large section up the hill into the driveway.

Here is a Pic of the diameter of the base. The chainsaw has a 16" bar on it.

Image

Here is the chunk I hauled up the hill onto the steep driveway.

Image

I'd guess it to be 1000-1200 Lbs.
And of course the rig... On the steep gravel driveway my KA was sliding down the hill instead of pulling the tree section up. LOL So I had to block the rear tires.

Image

Here is a little Vid of it.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G9auVaGFlww

Hard to video and watch the winch at the same time... LOL But the winch/ mounting plate worked beautifully.

The 2 tops of the tree were laying up the hill on the other side of the driveway. Those I hauled down with my recovery strap and the rear hitch. But dummy me, I forgot to get Pics of them. Each one was about 30' long.
After I cut them up, my Dad now has fire wood for next winter.

I took the time to install trans and t case skids, really easy with the right hardware. About 30 min.

My driver side window switch is broken. Putting the window down works fine but going up takes forever to get the switch properly contacting itself. Not enough of a pain to replace though.

Sorry to hear about the loss of all that cash. But that's just hopefully more reliable parts installed in it now!

Actually got this done over the weekend, I thought I share the pics.
Got ATH rocksliders (with integrated side steps) installed.
IMO They are very well made and heavy duty.
Thanks again Morgan. :)

It was just perfect timing...my wife and her aunt were complaining that
they had a hard time getting in and out of the KK since the lift,
so I had an Awesome excuse to get them. LOL :D
