Anyone have the tube brake at the bracket that bolts to the rear of the engine? Can the tube be removed without dismantling the engine? So far I tried to JB weld the tube but broke in the first mile. So now it's time to try to remove and braze it. Anyone ever gotten it out if so please share you experience?

My tube is broken too.
Bought a new one but have not put it in yet.
You will have to remove the one transmission bellhousing bolt that holds it.
Other than that, I'm not sure.

Mine broke too, I left it for probably 20k miles and ended up getting some crud in it. I replaced it when I had the head off, even then it was a b***h!! I think I had to bend the bracket and tube some to squeeze and twist it in.
You'll have to disconnect the 2 transmission cooler lines, and take out a 10mm bolt that hold the dipstick tube in.

I just put a length of rubber hose in my broken tube. It goes about 6" down from the bracket and about 6" up from it. I then tied the top half of the tube to a couple points with zip ties. It's solid, fits flush so it does not change my dipstick reading, and will suffice until I have a reason to drop the transmission.

I don't think it's expense of the tube itself. If I remember correctly.....mine was $18-ish from the dealer. It's the pain in the arse of replacing it. When I had my timing belt done, the shop owner (local diesel shop....not a dealer) said he'd install it for free being as I was having my timing belt done. When I picked my Jeep up he commented on the fact that it was a lot more difficult than he was anticipating. He said he had to remove the transmission cross member and jack up the trans a bit just to be able to be able to press it in. He admitted he lost a couple of hours of labor on it but he stuck by his word and didn't charge me for it.

Exactly my point. To weld,braze, etc, (I wouldn't qualify J B Weld or rubber hose as being a "fix") you'd have to remove it. Why go to that much trouble and not just replace?

I gotcha. I agree. I darn surely wouldn't go through all that trouble to remove it and not replace the tube itself. I think folks are trying to find a way to fix (or at least patch it up) while the tube is still in place. I had considered using a high temp muffler tape to try and put it back together. With mine when it was broke, the top part of the tube would basically stay pretty much in place because of the dipstick. It would usually leave a gap where it was broken and I was worried that foreign objects would find their way down the tube. When my mechanic said he'd replace it for no charge while doing my timing belt I was like

Jim, I agree with you because that tube is on the engine/trans when the it is installed as one assembly at the factory. I don't think anyone thought it would brake so from Bob's point you would have to remove the engine/trans as an assembly to replace the tube. You can't just take it out and replace it just because it's not proper repairing. So I like your hose idea and I was thinking of a short piece of metal tube with a slit where the bracket is so it fit tight.
