Afternoon everyone. Its Canada Day but I am having difficulty celebrating this holiday. My 2006 CRD diesel Liberty (just under 100,00 miles) is completely lacking any power and easily smokes black continuously and detonates or pings at the touch of the accelerator. If driving on level ground, little smoke. Timing belt is taut and in good condition from what I can see of it. Timing belt slippage seems highly unlikely even though it is approaching it's replacement time.
This is what I have chronologically done to figure out my problem!

Removed mostly plugged catalytic converter for now.
Had it scoped at local dealership. No fault codes. Turbo boost actuator tested and injectors tested OK, but NOT pulled. Cylinder compression OK
Removed EGR, was not very dirty. Tested out OK. Re-installed. Replaced my MAP sensor. It had been coming on intermittently. Had cleaned it recently.
Pulled injectors and replaced all. Dealership did not pull them, claimed they were ok. Sometimes I think they are afraid to get dirty!!
The injectors were not OK. Could not rebuild. Got a core fee but still expensive.
I removed intake hose from intercooler, cleaned it. Was filthy. Cleaned the valve seating area, gate passage and valve itself in the Flow Control Valve body. Tested it first and and tested it after. It appears to stay wide open on acceleration and remains open after engine is shut down(closes briefly when key turned off and engine stops. Tested air flow thru intercooler. its fine. Could the flow control valve be closing and blocking the turbo boost. only I cant see that when testing it with intake hose off.
. I tested the vacuum solenoid for storing the turbo boost by re-routing vacuum lines. Saw a thread on that but it made no difference. Same as removing the MAF Sensor.Did not affect the EGR. Did not affect engine preformance at all. Had my turbo boost tested for leaks on friday and all was good. But something is blocking my boost air. Has to be something simple that I have overlooked. Idles fine and starts immediately. No power, pinging and tons of smoke if a bit of acceleration applied.
I dont know where to look at this point?!! I need help

Was it spongy or soggy? If it was really dirty, it could have become porous from being oil soaked.

Inspect the cac hoses and the airbox to turbo hose.

When you checked the timing belt, did you have everything off and remove the cover to do so?

I'm assuming your TB is still factory? It was due for replacement a couple of years ago. Unfortunately you can't see to condition of the tension members by looking at it. The teeth and backing can look pristine while the tension members are on the brink of failure. If not already done your #1 priority should be to replace this.

Lack of codes makes this a bit of a dilemma. Are you running any sort or tune, e.g. GDE or DIY, that could be masking codes?

Putting the lack of codes aside and based on the symptoms alone I'd be looking to the EGR system first for a stuck open valve.

Are you paying someone to perform this diagnosis and work? The reason I ask is I'd be suspicious of having to replace all the Injectors. They would normally be expected to last the life of the engine so having to replace all four is extremely rare unless you've had some event that's damaged them all at the same time.
