Just finished getting my 05 CRD lifted aligned and JBA upper control arms installed.

The ride is very nice with the OME 2790 and 2948 Bilstein front and rear.

As many have posted, I can not upgrade to a wider tire with out using spacers. I only have about 10mm clearance between the stock tires and the JBA control arms

Now its time to start planning on Tire / wheel options ...

So I need suggestions on spacers and new wheels studs ... ?

Don't HAVE to get different wheels to fit a bit larger tire...

MrGasket Spacers #2370 I believe... .21" thick. I went that route and they work great and leave plenty of wheel stud

Online or most parts stores like AutoZone etc can get them

If going new wheels, then 16 X 7 with 4 inches of backspacing
245-75-16 tires
pound over the pinch weld and done!

And illegal..............................................

(notice "for offroad use" on package, not safe without extended wheel studs and auto fail for any inspection required state)

Not quite true...even Spidertrax says it is a grey area but for their own liability reasons...they label them for off-road use only. They are not "outlawed" per se in Texas...the rule is based more on track width and fender coverage...not spacers.

There are some states that "ban" wheel spacers over .25"...so it varies from location to local...not a blanket statement of "illegal"

Spacer like ones from spidertrax are considered wheel adapters which are "legal" since they have there own wheel studs. Those "slip-on" spacers are the ones that are very unsafe and in most states with inspections will be a automatic fail.

I went Moabs with 265/70 R16's and they fit well with the exception of the pinch weld needing a severe beating. I also trimmed the fronts of the liners to mirror the profile of my ARB bumper and those catch when I am turning hard in reverse.

I did the 1.25" spacers on the *front* only just to keep costs down. 18 months later I bought two more, but at the time I just needed to get the tires on.
