 Post subject: I hate powder coat

Looks good when you get it, but any breach in the surface means rust everywhere. I'll take a good coat of por15 any day for a durable base coat.

My winch mount had some surface rust, I removed the winch and discovered that the powder coat is just flacking off everywhere.

Totally agree, powder coat is way down on my list of favorite things for bumpers etc

I've never seen the attraction either. Especially if it's a part subjected to any flex.

My ARB front bumper never flexed any and it still started coming off and rusting underneath
But yes springs and things that flex even less

Paint is best for springs for sure

I didn't check but maybe Amazon has a used version....I asked at autozone but they don't usually sell certified preowned paint. :ROTFL:

I've never knew guys were powder coating off road stuff.
I usually hear about people powder coating the rims over anything else.
