I am feeling pretty confident that its the fuel quantity solenoid (aka MPROP).

I disconnected the solenoid on the CP3 and took it for a test drive.
Naturally, it went into limp mode, but everything else looked good.
Rail pressure was not pegged at 25600psi. It went up and down with throttle.
As expected, I got a P0090 code but the P0193 went away.

Now I have to find a new solenoid valve.
IDparts has it listed as "on order"
OregonFuelInjection has it listed as available in 3-5 days.

Anybody know where else to check? Who might have it in stock?

I just google searched ”Bosch CP3 parts" and came up with this:

http://usdieselparts.com/i-19399269-fue ... -5-9l.html

I wouldn't know if it's compatible or not, but it has several part numbers listed.

I poked around too. It's a shame because the prices are pretty good.

Got a new MPROP from Oregon Fuel Injection and installed it last night. Test drove it and it ran great.
Drove it this morning. Started out running great, then everything went to doo doo.
Stumbling acceleration and rough idle. It would die at idle and was difficult to restart.
Eventually it would not restart at all.
It seemed like it was running out of fuel or not getting enough fuel.

To get it started again, I unplugged my newly installed MPROP.
It started up and drove good.
No rough idle and no stumbling acceleration and it never died at idle.
Of course, with the MPROP unplugged, it was operating in limp mode with limited acceleration. But this was waaay better than what I was dealing with before.

So what the hell is going on here?
What exactly does the MPROP do and why does it run better with the MPROP unplugged?

Hmm, I'd have to reread all that info GMCTD posted on the CP3, but sure sounds like you might be dealing with a bad CP3 if it runs better with that unplugged. But, every time I hear of someone swapping the CP3, it WASN'T the problem, and they wasted about a grand and a hell of a lot of labor. hmm

Going back and rechecking harness connectors.
Looks like there is a intermittent short/connection problem at the rail pressure sensor. I've checked this already and all seemed fine before.
But with the engine idling, I can wiggle that connector and make the engine stumble and sputter.

Nice, looks like you found it. I just wonder if it isn't the wire right near the connector that's bad. Can a person find the connectors on our jeeps and order a new ones to splice in easily enough/I guess their part numbers are listed somewhere, or maybe they have a number on them?

Its a common connector used on lots of different sensors in a variety of makes and models. Problem is finding a local shop with one in stock.
I wound up ordering from a nearby chevy dealer who can have it ready for me tomorrow morning, $66.
Internet prices are $20-30 plus shipping and wouldn't get it till late next week.

Replaced fuel rail pressure sensor connector. Everything seems to be running good now.
Apparently this is a common problem on duramax engines. The duramax uses the same pressure sensor as our CRD.
Installed a fuel rail pressure gauge and its working good.

Just a recap:
P0193 code. Replaced fuel pressure sensor. Didnt fix it. Turns out original pressure sensor was good.
Replaced MPROP. Didnt fix it either.
All other fuel system components were testing good.

over $60 for a little connector  Wow, even $20 is crazy. At least it's fixed though  Thanks for the recap, I'll remember lots of wire and plug wiggling :JEEPIN:

Well, the P0193 is back again.

But its a little bit different this time, no limp mode.
Its intermittent stumbling on acceleration and while cruising at a steady speed.
But my fuel rail pressure gauge is working really good and registering every stumble as a loss of rail pressure.

I guess I need to go back and check my wiring again at the fuel pressure sensor.

It might have been that same pin that I had bad at the ECU. It look a little cooked. I scrubbed it with a tiny piece of sand paper, then alcohol, then bent it a hair just so it would make better contact on the female pin. pin 102, 51? hmm, anyhow, it fixed it long term. Oh, I also added a hair of contact goo.

Maybe it has trouble on both ends?
