Maybe the reason the alignment got off was due to the franken lift settling? Maybe you didnt give it time to settle before getting the alignment?

Maybe it's time for a new alignment shop. Your KJ can't be lined up like an unlifted vehicle can...you need someone that reallly knows what they're doing.

My KJ w/ Frankenlift tracks straight...although I had to go through a couple of alignment shops to find someone that knew what they were doing.

Good luck with your new FJ...

Sell it... If you have to ask then just go ahead and sell it. The only problem is that you will find you will just have other problems with other rigs.

Well I guess I'll make some observations here:

- You did your own lift. If it's clanking and clunking, maybe you go back and check all your torques. It's not that uncommon for things to loosen up enough to make noise. I had to re-torque my shocks after a month.
- I don't think it really takes all that much wheeling to know and alignment out. That's why I purchased a 2 year guarantee. The guys at NTB just love me!
- As for your front tires. Is that really the Jeep's fault?
- Finally, you won't really be satisified with another vehicle. It will be too expensive, too cheap, mods are too expensive, too few mods available, etc, etc. In other words, there's always something.

For flexibility and decent off roading, the Libby is a good compromise. More comfy than a Wrangler, cheaper and smaller than a large 4x4 PU, etc. I wish you well in your search. Trading in you're going to take it in the shorts.

Alright boys and girls, I stepped away, took some deep breaths and am over my little temper tantrum.

Let's discuss some of the things that some of you have brought up.

The alignment wasn't perfect, but it's gotten worse. Tires are now sitting like this ////// \\\\\\\. I have my suspicion it is due to the precarious position of the UBJ and the upper A arm. Alignment failure is not due to Frankenlift "settling" as the pinch weld height has remained constant.

The klunking noise is coming from the a arm making contact with the spring.

There is nothing wrong with the performance of the Frankenlift, it's just not all you need for your KJ. I'm happy with how the suspension acts and reacts.

Rear axle of the KJ when lifted shifts forward causing contact with the fender flares causing them to pop. With an adjustable lower control arm, the wheel can be realigned in the wheel opening.

While it may purely be coincidental, the cuts in my tires are about 1/2" in depth. Would the 1/2" I'm short in the rear have prevented my tires from being cut? I don't know, but I'll tell you once I get the other 1/2" installed.

As for how much I've spent.......The lift was about $900 with shipping, wheels and tires were $1057, Powertrax $200, Skids and rockrails were $950.

Yes, I'm keeping it, yes, I will make it work.............and yes, I'm going to take it to CROZET and wheel the hell out of it! As the father of three young children with a wife that is a stay at home Mom, my pockets aren't as deep as I'd like. I'm liquidating some of my surfboard collection to finance what I know it needs now.

Worst part is, I had my suspicions about many of these things before I installed anything. Being like a kid on Christmas with a new toy isn't always the best approach.

I was the same way with my left over cash and spend it on lots of mods right away. I'm enjoying it now and doing nothing to it for quite some time. My problem with ANY TJ is they are so dog gone narrow inside and for a big AND tall guy such as myself, I always felt like I was in a tin can. Just felt like a lot of money for not much of anything. The Liberty just seems more substantial of a vehicle IMO.

Woohoo! So we got the 9 rigs for Crozet? I got my ARB locker on the way.

BTW-I have the same lift and didnt put in the bumpstops, but I'm running Moab rims. I dont hit that weld in the rear?? Wouldnt the bumpstops just solve your problem?

True words right there...

jpzkj beat me to it....I just switched and it's going to cost me a whole lot more to set up what I now own....

and I wheeled my KJ pretty hard and never had any problems you've mentioned....after reviewing the advice on this forum I upgraded as recommended.....my armor protected as advertised.....my lift held up, my lockers, my E rated sidewalls took plenty of stuffing....I had to re-rivet popped flares and well liners, replaced the lower ball joints....but I never broke down....I would be one to testify to how well the KJ is built.....especially since I've started taking thinks apart on this '98 TJ....its all sheet metal screws and speed nuts....
