New CRD owner here... new owner of a 2005 with 143k and unknown history. I have already updated my 811 ECU to delete EGR/FCV but not tuning for power until I get new timing belt.

When I buy the timing belt kit I will also replace all glow plugs since I have two glow plug error codes.

I have glow plug module # 56044671AC which IdParts says is the OEM# for the fast glow metal plugs, and that this part also requires ECU flash.

Does anyone know how to check if ECU flash has been done? I read the entire ECU thread and didn't see any details there, but saw reference to it in this thread, so just looking for details how to do it, or what I need. THX

Fast glow?? does that equate to 5V glow plugs? Is there a sticker on the timing belt cover that says 5v glow plugs? Dealer would have been required to do the flash, and they will put the 5v sticker and would have noted the service on the ECM.

it's strange , I have the same module but with 7v and other here with same module with 5v , and then in the ecu file 811 , 808,812,813 ther is a part of the map that is completly different from other version but identical in this revison , and I think is the GP's managment

now the question is ............how is possible ?

there is a map that have 2 second of pulse .......high duty cycle at about 11,65v and after about 8 second at 2,25v , and this map have a 8bit duration = 8 second , have the 120 bit =120 second after start up at 3,4volt ....I think is the EPA requirement .
if you cycle the key the voltage is constant at 2,44 volt for about 10 second , depending of water tempand do not pulse again at max voltage

but I'm lost and need a cold climate to test

I just did a little test and if I unplug the water temp sensor and cycle the key, glow voltage gos 10.?? volts then immediately gots 4.?? then 2.?? and I have the 5volt fast glow plugs. With the water temp sensor from cold it seems to go 4.?? for a second or so then to 2.??. Im not sure thats enough to get them hot for that first start of the day as my first start is a litttle difficult at the moment.

I also dont think that the high voltage should occur, particularly on the fast glow plugs.

I have a new relay on the way and will source a water temp sensor, even the the temp sensor is working for the purposes of the guage Im not sure its quite right for the purposes of the ECU, not sure about this yet. Seems silly that a temp sensor could cause hard start for first start of the day, though the temp sensor disconnected test above shows there is a little difference in how it responds.

I dont recommend doing the test, with a immediate start, just take it as read, I was able to get a detonation with this so it does alter something, (Glow plug voltage) timing or something.

have you the same GCU number ? the glow plug strategy do not depend only from water temp but work together with ambient temp

for a right reading you must do the test in winter , the fast glow is determined by the 2 second of high pulse like your 10 volts or my 11,65 ......the voltage, I think depending at what voltage your battery have , I think the management , work in percentage .
if you disconnect the water temp sensor the ecu thinking that the water is at -40 and adapt timing etcc

I did the same test that you did, and I got the same volts

news ? nobody else did this test with 5v GP is interesting know the first 2 second voltage and the later 8 second and the voltage for the 2nd key on ,do the second key on immediately after the first key on
