I Have pretty much the same results with the same OCI. The only difference is I am running the Fram Ultra XG8A which is the equivalent to the Napa Gold 1515. Napa's are not convenient to get to around here.

Regarding oil. Jrsavoie said there is an amsoil on 10w30 or something like that, made for diesel and synthetic. The reason I'd get a 30 weight oil is because mainly the start viscosity, especially in winter.

I use 0w40 mainly due to having the lowest viscosity when cold from all oils that are good for this engine and easily accessible. I also don't see my oil over 180 degrees, unless I have more load to the engine than I normally have around the town where I drive most, so I benefit more from more flow on those temps.

Picking the right oil depends on how you use the jeep. It's like picking the right ammo for the gun. If you drive like me, mostly the only passenger, with maybe 1-200 lbs of extra luggage, Mobil 1 0w40 is not a bad choice, if you tow frequently, or drive very hilly roads for many miles, then Mobil 1 td truck 5w40 is good, or shell rotela, or a dedicated diesel synthetic that's a bit thicker and lasts high temperatures, as the turbo will get hotter, maybe 900-1000 deg is something normal under the conditions.

Of course, oil analysis is the best, I just wanted to show the color of the oil with gde tune, which proves less soot than normal diesel engine. Btw, nice "chart" flman!

I always call Amsoil and use the recommended oil for the vehicle in everything I run. I run 5w30 Heavy duty diesel engine oil in all of my 6.5's and I think it's 0w40 in the Jeep. I used Amsoil European diesel car engine oil til the last oil change when Amsoil came out with a different oil they said was better

Once I'm over with the stash of Mobil 1 tdt I got some years ago from Autozone and have no more 0w40 left, I'll get the t6, on paper, looks very good, and also the ppl using it vouch for it. Gde also uses it in EcoDiesel. Cheap and good, what else can you want, lol.

I think this is their answer to the "European" acea c3 diesel for engines with dpf/scr. Mobil 1 esp already sells this in us but it's out of stock everywhere... It's a low ash oil so it won't clog the new cat converters (dpf/scr combo) on the new diesels.

It's must be worth it

Every single penny!

If you yow a lot, I'd say to get either gde full torque Eco or hot tune, and a transmission tune. I hope you already have an euro torque converter or better, a Suncoast.

I don't know what torque converter i have.....? Stock? I'm really impressed with how well it pulls and sits without jumping in and out of gears. I'm pretty sure my crd is stock

That's the beauty of a diesel. im pretty sure it makes almost as much power at 2000 rpms as it does at 4000 rpms so it can definitely hold gears well. I would consider the Full torque eco or hot tune as well. I have the Hot tune on the stock converter and have not had issues except for a few instances of shudder. Now that I live at 6500 ft asl it no longer makes enough power to ever bother the TC though.

Now that I think about more, the hot tune ecm and the tcm tune from gde would probably make more sense for lots of towing. You should pm choochooman and ask him what is his opinion about them, not sure if he has hot tune or the Eco full torque but he has the gde tcm tune and he is towing close to the maximum limit.
