Had my cowl off for a new windshield, its been 125k since the cowl was off for the last windshield(2007), I guess at that at that time is wasn't dirty because I have not pulled this off before. Got it cleaned up this time though!




Might be worth it for others to check.

Take the wiper arms off. There are 4 plastic reuseable rivets that hold it the cowl down. They pop up, save them. Pull the seal off at the front by the engine. pull the cowl forward.

When I cleaned mine about 2 years back, a corner was rusty and it fell apart... I just pushed it more towards the small gap and clamped with thin wire.

You can gently pry those rivets up with a flat bladed screwdriver. When I pulled my cowl off wiper blade removal was a serious problem and the blades simply would not come loose. I eventually go a GearWrench 202D battery terminal puller which popped them loose and I put a bit of wheel bearing grease on the shaft. They popped right off a couple of years later when I had a windshield replaced.
