Right now I am pursuing some options. There are quite a few maps in the BIN file but not all are recognized by ECM titanium. ECMTi has a "driver" definition that outlines what maps are what. In the case of my 603 is mostly wrong. But in the case of the 600 more right, and even has more maps than the 808+ maps do.

With WinOLS I can see quite a few maps, and its obvious they are related to fuel control, but its not obvious what is what. For example I think there are 3 injection timing maps. Pilot, first, and second. With the DRBIII you can reads the values for pilot injection etc - but they must come from somewhere. Maybe its a unknown map in the BIN file, or maybe its part of the ECU software.

Right now I am trying to track down the a2l files, these are the bosch definitions, similar to the drivers for ECMTi. You can download free tools from Bosch for the MS4 motorsport ECU - which is basically just a standalone ECU version of ours. It comes with the a2l file for the motorsport ECU and allows you do to all the tuning that we do, just with Bosch OEM tools!

So if I can find a2l files for our ECUs we could understand exactly what all the maps are, and then either edit them with ECMTI, winols, or even the OEM Bosch tools.

It looks like the a2l file is generated when the source code is compiled for loading on the ECU. However I do see some indications its possible to build an a2l file by reading an ECU via XCP. I think the MPPS cable will work correct for the USB to CAN/K-line to read via XCP. If the XCP read for a2l would work then we could dynamically general a a2l file for each ECU we connect to.

Further research is required.

Hi All.

I have a 06 CRD with GDE Full torque tune and am now wanting a tune with less Cummings type noise as I feel it's hard on my engine:shock:
My GDE tunes both the Echo and full torque never got much of an improvement on MPG.
I read on page 11 that I need to off load the GDE tune using their loader and load in a stock tune then use the cable listed in the first post I ordered today and load a desired tune.
So not having the GDE loader I found a used ECM with the correct part number but have not ordered it yet.

So my question is can a person using the cable and included software put in and/or transfer the vehicle specific information or will I need to send the used ECM to GDE for entering my vehicle data?

thanks in advance
Joe

Just one fellow tried to flash a tune on an already programmed GDE tune and his ECU was damaged. Because of this we warn to bring it back to stock but it really shouldn't matter unless GDE is able to put a "do not enter" byte of data somewhere we can't access. If you can get a cheap ECU and play with that, it may be better for you.

My map is starting to make more sense to me now by manually selecting different drivers.

If I select the C473_600 driver instead of the 603 Data looks lots better. What the 600 driver calls EGR actually looks like what I was seeing as maxed out by Yeti at 15500.

At this point I'm pretty sure the 600 is the same as my 603 with the exception it is mapped for a manual trans KJ. Looking at the 600 EGR map, boost map, torque map etc they are very very similar, but might be a few % different.

That being said I have moved forward and set what I think is the EGR map to 15500 across the board. I do not know if the "EGR hysteresis" humps need to be changed, and I am a little unsure about where they are in my map. Time for more comparison between files.

Just a couple of points to help you along; you may already know this all though.
It is easier to find the maps in 2D mode (that is why we talk about finding humps).
If you look at the stock 808 and modified, you can see what the pattern should look like and how to modify it in your 603.
EGR and EGR hysteresis both have 2 similar patterns. I think that one is for auto and one for manual transmission. Modify them both.
Titanium is often wrong when it comes to labeling maps names.
If you are serious about learning and tuning, WinOLS is a better choice. It doesn't find all of the maps that we need but you can manually do this, and all maps can be labeled with headings and units.

Any labels or modifications gets saved in:
Program Files (x86)\EVC\WinOLS_Demo\ols.cfg
Backup this file somewhere safe. Probably could also post it for others to use.

I can get a used ecm for $165 US but am holding off until I can find out who or how to get my vehicle specific information in it.

I would like to retain the GDE tune for possible future use.

I don't want to be the second one to find out the hard way :|

I purchased the MPPS cable/software V13.02.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00L9Y ... ge_o04_s00

I have it working now and would like to get a link to a good tutorial etc..

Any assistance with this will be helpful.

Thanks,

Here is a tune I been working on see about 60HP gain with it. Does not have rail pressure added or EGR delete yet. I run it with a Power Puck. I see close to 60RWHP gain over stock on our super flow dyno.

Actually not much more boost than your stage 4 tune. Turbo Overboost is set high in order to eliminate entering limp mode "turned off". From what I seen from my snap on scanner watching boost levels, the over boost table has nothing to do with desired boost.

I do not increase 200 point in the turbo , ok can be handle this boost , but the overboost map is the actuation of the vane and permit great peaks of boost , more overboost , more peaks , the logic of the management is not right , and the turbo /temp map is too high , the fuel limiter have not sense in this mode idem the intake pressure limiter , the rail pressure /temp is a limp mode map and work with the altitude too and have a 200 point .........plus 20 bar , why ? time of injector opening plus 40% :dizzy: intake limiter at 3500 point ..........I want to know what your head gasket think with a 2,5 bar , not to mention the injection phase , BTW you can use the tune you want , for me is not safe , it's only a suggestion

I'm after high hp and where the numbers peak is where I stop. That's how I use my dyno :) Injection PW is not hard on the engine, monitor power output and it will peak. When I'm done I'd hope this engine holds 4bar once I oring the block.

If you want to easily use the V13.x version of MPPS software listed on the first page of this thread you can install VirutalBox and a legal copy of windows XP using these directions. If you have windows 8, 8.1, 10 just forget about using MPPS unless you install XP.

http://www.fixedbyvonnie.com/2014/03/le ... irtualbox/

This made my MPPS install simple, it worked first time using Squeeto's nice guide, hat tip. Got my stock rom already backed up.

Now my question:

I have a stock 06 with 83K. Just got the machine, had the factory fuel filter. I'm going over the noob check list now. I will install a Weeks 1 & 2 EGR rework kit. What rom file would you run with this basic factory car after the Week's mod. No HP needed but fuel mileage and engine enhancement (smoothness...) welcome.

thanks

I use Win10 and no issues with MPPS v1.3 after 30+ ECU flashes to my Jeep.

64 bit. I do need to right click the MPPS icon and select "Run as administrator", else it won't work.

Wow, I just flashed my 06 Liberty CRD with YETI's mild tune. Super good tune, I just went for a trip. I got 11.5L/100km at -10 celsius with 22km/h crosswinds (75% highway, 25%city) Heavy throttle passing cars n stuff. I do get a heavy shudder at 1800RPM in 4th and 5th gear. Anyway to fix this and get the smoothness back?

While there are ways to adjust the tune to reduce shudder, I find it more practical to slightly back off the throttle at the shift points there the TCC applies and then ease back into the throttle.

Or install a better torque converter.
