Is this difficult? The dealer wants to charge me $400 labor to replace the front injector line. I can literally see myself doing it in 5 minutes unless there is more than just attaching it.

Is that PN 5142769AA? Is the price just labor or labor + part? Without looking at my vehicle it's just a pipe with fittings at both ends. Should be simple to replace but will put air in the line from the CP3 to the fuel rail so you may have to crack injector 4's fitting and bump the starter a few times to encourage the air to leave if you don't want to do several crank cycles to let the system bleed on its own.

Pretty simple. Remove old line. Install new line. Crank it over until it starts. I've never had to bleed it, even when all 4 lines were removed. It might run rough for a few seconds while the air is pushed out into the return line, but it won't hurt anything.

The dealer is doing you no favors. Change it and pocket the 350.00 you'll save doing it.

Dealers quote was $660 including the part. They made me pay the 260 for the part before they ordered it. So they want $400 to replace the line. I'm gonna do it myself and let it bleed out on its own

That's not the right part. I can buy the line online for $195 without shipping. So the dealer is more expensive by 50-60

$167 at:

I would ask for a refund from dealer and order it on-line and save ~100 bucks....

Does the dealership have the jeep? If not, go back in there and don't let them intimidate you. Demand to return the butt raping part and order online. These guys are taking advantage of you and don't deserve any of your money

That link you posted shows two different injector lines but both have the same part number. How would you know you were ordering the correct one?

Looks to me like the drawing is incorrect, two sets of lines, both having the same part number since all web sites show the same drawing and part numbers for either line????

Injectors lines 1&3 and 2&4 are the same. I just learned a couple of weeks ago that the price went way up. No idea why. My local junk guy can t find one, I posted awile back looking tor one. I swapped 1 & 3 tightened and my leak was resolved. Go figure.

What on earth is the symptom or problem that is leading you to needing a new injector line? Did it spring a leak?

Yes it did. It is leaking from that area and is either the line or injector.

Why would you expect a business to suck up the cost of a special order part because the customer has changed his mind? Yeah they took advantage, most dealers do but it's still the customers responsibility to do his research before agreeing to the repair and parts order. Don't forget the dealer is probably offering a quick turnaround on this, something he's unlikely to get ordering online.

OP, learn from this experience and take the parts you ordered and install them yourself.

If it's leaking in that "area" I'd suspect an injector crush washer leak before I'd suspect a blown fuel rail to injector line, of course that line could be not seated or tightened properly. Clean area up; crank up; use dry paper towel to look for actual leak location; go from there.

"That area". Can you take a pic and draw an arrow to "That area"? I agree with Pap, it may not be the connector. However, the lines are easy to replace yourself if that is in fact the problem. We have all had them off/on for other maintenance jobs.

FYI, a dealer can return any part in good condition and get full cost credit! I work at a dealership and we return special ordered parts not used every 30 days for full credit....its not a big deal and we do not have to eat the cost of a returned part... We even will give customers full refunds on unused parts returned with a receipt as long as they are still in a new unused condition...:D :D
