You may want to give me a call or send me an email. I am not sure who you took it to, because that sheet looks suspiciously like the diagnostics from a dealership type of establishment. You can't do a leak test on the cylinders, with any degree of accuracy, when you don't have the camshafts installed.
The way this Engine is designed, if the timing slips, then the rockers would be damaged. That is the design, to sacrifice the rockers and protect the rest of the motor. Having a "popping sound from the intake" certainly indicates that rockers were damaged or that the timing was not correct. However, air moving through the cylinders also makes noises when the valves open. Anyone who is unfamiliar with the specific sounds of this engine, might not recognize whether that was a normal sound or not.
I'm not saying that your engine didn't have a valve drop, but at this point, you only know a little bit more then you knew before. It would be worth the time and effort to remove the cylinder head entirely and have a look at the top of the pistons. If they aren't damaged and impacted, then the engine can be rebuilt.
As it happens, I will be driving up to New York City in the next week or so, I will be up there this coming weekend. I already have two other CRDs to stop and work on on the way back, yours could be number three. Hit the button down below this post that says email, and send me a message. Let's see if we can get your CRD at least properly diagnosed.
