EPA = ENVIRONMENTALISTS GONE MAD! :frankie:
They have a history of blindly passing laws that they believe will help protect the environment but then totally ignoring or unwilling to admit any of the terrible consequences that these things cause and are certainly not willing to reverse or admit their mistakes!!! :banghead: :furious:

It's worse than that.
They are bureaucrats who enact 'regulations' that we must obey, and we never got a chance to vote the sensored word up/down in the first place.

They decide to close a coal mine, or set emissions way low, which throws people out of work, and they get raises for a job-well-done.

I'm all for clean air/water, but they wont be happy until people are removed from the environment.

. Sure you can delete all the emissions stuff but can you get away with it at this point? I've talked to a few people here in Utah that were fined for DPF deletes on their Cummins and Utah doesnt even have emissions testing!

How in the heck did they know they had DPF delete if they have no required inspections unless the owners were way overfueling and dumping a bunch of black smoke which certainly draws a lot of unwanted attention (stupid)?

This is a good article on DPF delete and the EPA!
Prod a bear(EPA) with a stick long enough and it’ll come after the antagonizer with a vengeance!!!
DPF Deletes: Crossing the Fine Line
http://www.hardworkingtrucks.com/special-report-dpf-deletes/

After reading this article, doubt very seriously that I would ever purchase one of the newer diesel trucks with all that stupid crap on them that now you cannot even remove!!! EPA forcing owners to drink the Koolaid!!! :furious:

This all reminds me of gasoline engines of the 80's and 90's.
When high performance 5.0-5.8 liter v-8 engines, loaded down with catalyitic converters, smog pumps, and EGR valves, made a whopping 220-240 horsepower.
Gear heads who wanted to race their daily driven mustang/camaro/firebird, deleted cats, blocked EGRs, and performed many other tricks. All by purchasing parts out of the Summit catalog labled *for off-highway use only.
Back then, no one ever thought about drag racing a diesel engine. They were waaay too slow.

Nowadays, we have gasoline engines of similar displacments, using the same types of emissions controls, producing 350+ HP.
It would seem that technology has adapted to the emissions control requirement and produced more powerful gasoline engines.

Personally, I think diesel powered pickup trucks have no place in the drag strip. Although I gotta admit, its pretty effing cool to see two diesel trucks leave the line with black smoke pouring out the exhaust.
But diesel trucks are for doing work and towing your race trailer to the track.
So Im ok with them having good emissions controls.
Technology has improved. DEF is a lot better than just DPF.

If trends keep going the way they have, diesel engines and emissions controls will become greatly improved.

Or just say F the EPA and move to florida where nobody gives a F about emissions controls.

(BTW, I lived in SoCal for most of the 80's and 90's and know all about the headaches of hot rodding a Mustang and still having to pass a smog check)

Luckily we do not have emissions testing in Georgia for the most part except for around Atlanta which most of us outside of the beltway do not claim anyway...

I'm sorry, I just do not like anyone telling me what I can do and cannot do with my own equipment that I have purchased with my hard earned dollars!!! We are beginning to live in a police state where you are being told what you can do and cannot do; EPA is a lot like gun control, keep passing stupid laws to punish innocent people for only wanting to have freedoms that we used to be able to enjoy.... :2cents:

One of the points that I was trying to make was that this isnt a beginning. Its been around for at least 30 years.
People have been defying the EPA for just as long.
The problem is with folks who like to display their defiance by rolling coal.

I could go on and on about cars/trucks and what the EPA does do or tries to do.
But I dont loose any sleep over it because I can always find a classic car/truck and do whatever the hell I want with it.

I know a lot of people here are not going to want to hear this, but I am pretty much ok with the EPA regs. Yes, EPA is a screwed up agency and may even be prejudiced against diesels (I have had 3: Rabbit, Volvo, and the much hated/loved CRD), but in general the agency has done much more good than bad. I can remember what California was like only a few decades ago when the air was so bad 300 days a year you could not see the mountains or even the ocean. If you don't think clean air regs have helped, check the lead levels of kids today vs 40 years ago, or spend some time in one of the many countries without an EPA and try to take a deep breath. Spend a few days in Beijing and Bangalore as I did several years ago and see if you want the EPA to go away!

Yes, I know the libertarian view is that its your toy so you should be able to do what you want with it. Well, you know what, my family has to breathe that same air. So, in fact, the "greater good" rule applies.
