Have a 2011 Jeep Libert 4x4 sport, Recently out camping with my kids and the wife. Got a bit colder than expected and she ended up holed up in the jeep with my 2 year old. Probably around 35-40 degrees at worst. Let it idle to warm up, got in about 20 minutes later threw on the heater and smelt a very strong odor of gasoline.
Being on the safe side we got out, I checked for any obvious leakage or strong odors outside and nothing that we could tell. Turned her on and threw it into recirc with no odor.
Got back into town, checked for smells with the kids out and nothing obvious like it had been when warming the jeep up. I live in Phoenix so it's on the warmer side in town here. Even turning on the heater here in town right whens starting her up theres no obvious odor.
Checked fuel line from gas tank, no obvious leaks/ stains or smells, Checked engine compartment, Right rail connection from the line looks like leakage.
I'm wondering why there isn't a smell that I can tell when I'm in the city with Ac/ Heater. I even tried to get a whiff near the apparent problem and I couldn't smell anything. Was it just dumping gas when I was idling to warm it up?
I'm guessing the fix shouldn't be too difficult. I searched online for "guides" for replacement to give me a rough idea and couldn't find anything specific to the KK.
Any insight is greatly appreciated!
