75 mph on interstate.
Sunroof was down and sliding visor was closed. Boom! Open sliding visor and glass was gone!
No one behind so no drama.
Anyone heard of such a thing? Think an auto glass shop can fix it?

If it was just the glass and not the glass plus metal framing, I would say yes. Good luck though. Crazy story!

Purchased it last year from an individual so I'm not sure of its history. No one's touched the sunroof since we've had it. She'll be home today and I'll take a closer look.
So far I've had to replace the water pump, the elec locks quit working, the front wiper fluid quit working and now this. Sigh...

Havent heard of them blowing out, but leaks are common, mine is also. I wish mine had a solid roof.
I also had to do the water pump but its easy at least. Also have weird electrical stuff from time to time.

Wow, never heard of this. Must have had some pretty big interior pressure built up to pop it out like that. Either that or it was not secure to begin with. IE the mounting brackets loose.
Keep us posted on what you find...

Plot thickens... I would never have guessed but the sunroof is an aftermarket install and under a RECALL.
I'll know more later this week and post an update then.

Yeah, the sunroof was from a company called Webasto and was indeed under a recall (glue failure).

She took it in yesterday and had the glass/frame assembly replaced at no charge.

Sorry for the fire drill unrelated to Jeep but I'm thankful no one was hurt and we got it fixed at no charge.

Thanks for your help.

WOW. this made me think of when I was stationed in Hawaii (86-89), this happened to Aloha airlines flight 243. Flying along and WOOSH. First class area became a "Tan while you fly" zone. Sucked a stewardess right out of the plane. Sad but someone was looking out for the rest of the crew and passengers. They made it to the ground from 24k feet in tack, minus what you see below. :(
