replaced the door handle switch, so now the window will open when you pull the handle. the switch was cracked and had green corrosion on it. problem is the window still won't latch unless you slam it hard, kind of in-nerving. I have a feeling the previous owner slammed it a lot to get it to close. the switch is not in the closed position. is it an adjustment or latch replacement? thinkin the slamming may have moved the whole latch.
thx

Not sure if this is the same issue or not, but when you open the gate handle with the battery disconnected, it will allow the window to swing free, but since there is no power it cannot pull it into the open position, and if you try to close the glass, it won't go. At least not until power is applied and the handle is pulled open again.

If I understand what you're describing, you either have a problem with the switch at the handle or the magnet in the glass latch. (?) If so it should be pretty easy to find salvage parts, as either gas or diesel are the same, and possibly even the earlier models, but I'm not certain about that.

not the same issue. my latch is not in the closed position, it is open. you just have to slam the window to get it to stay closed. my friend rear window acts like there is a magnet pulling it closed, mine does not.

I've got to slam the snot outta mine, too.
My '97 Ram 2500 - the doors and gate closed with a stiff finger at 250K.
I just know the rear glass in the CRD Limited gate is going to e'splode one of these days on a closure attempt.

Do you have a local body shop you deal with? Might stop in and ask them.

well after taking a look at the latch mechanism I decided to move it forward as far as it would go. theory being the previous owner had slammed it so much it had been pushed back. which made it harder for the latch to cam over.
well it worked, closes with just a gentle nudge. the door handle switch was the initial problem, cracked and corroded, replaced it first to get the window to open when the handle is pilled.

Very Nice

Glad you solved it.

And shared the fix.

Thanks

I was having this same issue for a while. I moved the latch as far as I could and that fixed it. It's starting to have trouble shutting again so I'll have to see see if the latch needs to be moved again.

I did look for other reports of this issue too and found nothing.

I had to file the slots about 3/16" longer to be able to slide the mechanism far enough to allow the glass to reach into the toggle.

I just replaced my micro switch and then the issue you’re talking about started happening. Wondering if there’s any other fixes known besides moving the latch forward? Need ideas for what to do when I have time. I was able to get mine to latch by taking the weather stripping that goes between the tailgate and the glass off

It sounds like the latch loop on the glass simply isn't reaching the latch toggle.
