Can someone make this EGR cut-off plate professionally on their CNC or whatever you may have, I don't have the proper tools to cut 12 ga. steel and above.

I need 4 plates for 2 CRD's and I'll prepay for them.

Thanks

I like cutting the stock pipes, fold them over and then weld them. I've seen two now that have had those block off plates and the the pipe has cracked right at the flange.

JW... I don't get how this happens?

What pipe cracks?

I plan to completely remove the pipes, add the cut off plates at the EGR and use the same bolts. Plug the 5/8" holes at the manifold and the intake with a proper fitting oil drain plug secured in place with the existing grooved strap clamp.

This may be an overkill but now I am thinking that a thicker gage cutoff plate may be a better way to go..... possibly a 10ga or 3/16" so that it doesn't warp. I plan to use permates high heat sealer.

What you posted is what people use to "slide" in between the egr itself and the exhaust side pipe. I've seen 2 now that crack right at the flange where the pipe bolts back the the egr. If you are plugging the exhaust manifold than there is no need for these block off plates

If you block it on both ends, exhaust and intake, as you describe with plugs in the "V" clamps, then there will be no need for installing the block off plate...
Have you considered installing the Week's elbow kit? It gets rid of all of the crappy EGR components... :D

Yes, I have.

I'd rather do it this way instead.

It's a 10-year-old car that I would like to keep on the road with minor expenses and my hard work. Doing it this way justifies it's existence to my other half.

Regarding better access to the glow plugs: After the tubing is gone, access to the plugs becomes a breeze, removing the 7mm or 8mm bolts in not difficult once the tubing is gone. Besides that, all the wiring connections at that spot remain intact, engine codes are prevented from popping up on the dash.

Procure 4 standard oil plugs for my 2 vehicles at a cost of under $10.00 for all, plus some labor on my part. And I am loving the fact that I no longer need the block off plates..... what a gem of advice.

I am just trying my best to keep my 2 little diesels happily ticking for years to come.

Nothing wrong with a low budget plan! And in your case, getting rid of any potential soot in the intake or boost leak back through the EGR valve is a very good thing.
Once you have the plugs in place, you can also remove, plug, and get rid of all the EGR associated cooling hoses which are potential coolant leaks and will get rid of even more clutter around the engine area....
With the right tune, you could also totally remove the EGR valve and cooler! (to clear DTC's set when you unplug the EGR valve)
I would also remove the flapper butterfly out of the FCV if you have not already done so. Only two small torx screws and it can be pulled out...
