Something has come up and I'm not sure I'm going to make this one. :-( I'll let you know, but move me to the "maybe" column for now.

Yes I want to join in the fun! I live about 2.5 hours from Harrisonburg. I just need to know where to meet up with everyone. Maybe directions to Brandywine Camping. I will bring a friend and something to share to cook on the grill...someone bringing a grill?? :)

I have a small fire and ice grill. But I think we will use the campgrounds shelter for dinner. I think they have the little stand-up grills

Still planning on coming out for this one... probably won't be able to leave Baltimore until Friday evening so we will also be getting a hotel room - hopefully there is a good "pet friendly" place nearby.

Let us know what to bring as far as food and such. We also have a portable grill if needed.

I am going to have to go online and find which exit 33 is on. I have put that info at the back of my mind since I kinda now where everything is.

I-81 to exit for 33west, since it looks that most people will be staying in the Hotel for the night we will meet at 8:00 to 8:30ish at the sheetz right on 33. I will leave this up to the group but if you guys would like to grab breakfast somewhere before we head into the woods that will work for me. If not we will head down to the lake and make sure that we have everything in order and than start up the Mountain. This will be a fairly easy ride and it will be more senic than off-road. There is a place that we can stop at and play in the mud at the play area. This will be my first time leading the group on this run so it may take me a couple of extra minutes.

Is anyone planning on camping?

I wanted to camp. :D Is the Brandywine campground near Sheets on 33? What is this trail called locally? I have heard of a few trails in the area. Thanks! :D

Brandywine if IIRC is located just inside WV from VA. If you camp there, you will have a 20 minute drive back into town to meet at Sheetz. We were late leaving the campground last year, and saw the guys coming towards us as we were heading back in town, and there were 3 or 4 of us that pulled some crazy U-Turn on 33...

Like Nate said it is a hike from sheetz to the campground. But you could allways meet us at the lake. As far as the trail name is, I have no clue. Hopefully I can get some info off of Dave or Mike and I may have some names.

I don't remember the name, but if it's the same turnoff that we took it is like 3/4 the way up the switchbacks towards WV there is a road sign and left turn lane that takes you back down there to the lake. As for that roads name...Google Maps says it's Switzer Lake Rd.

Hey again! I have a friend from Harrisonburg area, she said "If it is to the left going up the mountain on 33 west it is salt flats. You go in at this broken down barn looking thing. There is a mud hole as soon as you go in. There are several big mud holes to play in there. Big ones!" Well then..play time anyone? :P

She said she thinks there is a road that connects to Reddish Knob off of it. She is going up there this Sunday, she said she would fill me in when she gets back. She wheels with LostJeepers..too funny huh? L.O.S.T. and LostJeepers.

Whew another long day...later!

That trial is called Lost mirriors or something to that affect. I have a good shot of my Libby sitting in the middle of the water in Dec when I got in a could not get out. I have been through it before when a Grand Cherokee got hydrolocked from it. The trail leading to Flagpole Knob is the one we will be on Sat.

FOOD:
--WV(0)IIIIIII(0) -Chris: bringing the standard hamburger and hot dogs + buns
--W3CSX -Jason
--sstenner -Sharon & Dave and dogs
--SteelCityOffRoad (and friends?)
--OBX KJ
--swtwomyn -tracy

I will have a 6yr old with me so my second day may or may not happen. The first day will also include the fun trail that we were going to do for the second day. If I cannot make the second day than hopefully Jason can take the reins and get you guys back out to play on the trail that we do first.

CB channel 6 is the planned channel we will be running P.M. me for my phone # or nextel # if needed.
Sat schedule:
Meet at sheets on 33 at 8:00 gas up and get snacks, than we are off to LOST mirrors (I think this is the name of this trail) no later than 9:00
swtwomyn -tracy and anyone else that camps can meet us at the entrance to GWNF on 33 remember to fuel up before going to the campsite as there is no other store outside of Harrisonburg.
Lunch at the lake off of the grill as long as Sharon can bring her grill.
Off to flagpole knob.
Dinner: Will be at O'Charleys in Harrisonburg unless there is another suggestion.

Well guys it looks as if we have lost another swtwomyn -tracy and we have to put sstenner -Sharon & Dave and dogs on the maybe list.

So, I have put in a phone call to a buddy of mine (Walt) who has a bad very mean Land Rover to be our guide for this weekend. He has to put his driveshaft back in and he will let me know by Thursday if he can do it for us. He lives in the area and knows all of the trails, and said that he will do what he can to get out there for us. If this happens be prepared for a fun ride

Well I just got a phone call from my buddy Walt and he said that he will be at the Sheetz at 8:00 to lead us through the trails. It seems that the cookout plan has been blown apart. So, pick up what you are going to need for lunch at the store and be prepared for a good day of riding through the woods.

Peace & Chicken Grease

See you guys at 8:00 8)
