Take a look ....I plugged the intake side with a 24mm x 1.75 standard oil drain plug $4.99 that I found at a local truck parts store and purchased the tap on eBay for $12.33.

I did the same to the exhaust side.

It was a simple fix for me, using a plug that I was able to find locally and the tap on eBay.

It turned out to be the most in expensive tap available, but the lead time was 14 days .. might be different for you, never know.

I plan to do this to my other CRD.

Good Job! Looks like a good permanent block-off!
Easy to do this with the manifolds off the engine. I toyed with doing something similar to this when I installed the Weeks Elbow Kit several years ago, but trying to get a tap down into that area to tap the exhaust manifold while it is still bolted to the engine looked almost impossible. So I simply went with the a block off plug that I made out of steel that is held in by the OEM clamp. Still in place and working to this day!

On the intake side; if you are not installing the Elbow Kit, be sure and remove the butterfly flapper plate out of the OEM FCV if you have not already done so. It only requires removing two T-15 torx screws and it will slide right out. Especially easy to do since you have it apart!!!

good thinking. easy to implement, but
what did you do about the ECU fault codes?

I also followed similar theme. Just purchased two of the exhaust manifold caps:
http://www.idparts.com/exhaust-manifold ... -5268.html

and use the banjo clamps just like the weeks kit does just turn the one on FCV over opposite way of the exhaust manifold. When I did mine I just put a coin and some permeatex on the adapter that screws in drivers side block to block it off though you can get an oil drain plug for it also for about $4 at advance etc. I bought a barb hose adapter at lowes for the other end hose connection or you can buy this:
http://www.idparts.com/egr-cooler-coola ... -4809.html

You still need to take butterfly plate out and you can remove just the EGR valve itself and leave sensor plugged in and zip tie it somewhere near where it was and keep FCV as well as MAF plugged in and you will not get a CEL no matter what tune you use.

I also did one where i just cut the tubes connected to exhaust manifold and bottom of FCV there a few inches long hammered them flat then bent in vise then for good measure sealed inside tube with copper permeatex and replaced with the original banjo clamp, totally free this way ( except for permeatex I had) don't need to weld it etc. Just hacksaw , hammer and vise.

The way racetracer did it with threading it is neat and a definite no question permanent seal, but you would need to have manifold off and I didn't even take mine off to change head gasket just loosened it from head. Of course, one could easily do intake elbow that way

I did this to my 2006, now that the engine is apart, but I will be doing the same to my 2005.

The Yeti tune eliminates the engine codes when the EGR is removed.
