The problematic ones I dealt with are the two holding the oil drain pipe on from below.
Suggest you use studs and nuts VS the bolts.
Also fit the gasket and pipe on and put the fasteners on loosely before fitting it to the manifold.
Then when you put the assembly in, drop the drain into the grommet.
It will help you hold the assembly in place as you fasten the turbo to the manifold, and it's massively easier to get a socket on a fastener that's already started, than to start one in a area you can barely get a finger into.

Thanks... I'm having trouble with the top rear (closest to the firewall) exhaust manifold to turbo stud. I can get a combo wrench on it, but not the torque wrench. So I was thinking I could attach a crowfoot to the torque wrench and see if that works

Gordnado, do you happen to know the size studs needed for the oil return tube? I'd like to have them on hand when I do the swap.

I don't, offhand.

I took one of the bolts with me when I went to Diamond Home Improvement, and matched them up there.

If anyone happens to know the size (or even a picture of one) it would be extremely helpful. I got a bucket of bolts along with my Jeep so I don't even know what they are supposed to look like.

I should have figured that out before I mounted the tc, but I didn't

I finally got all four studs on the exhaust manifold torqued to spec... I thought I was going to lose my mind! Now to tackle the oil return line, then I can move on to the intake.

They are very very small.

If you got a Sasquatch turbo, the bolts came with it and should be there

If not, take the turbo to your local hardware or auto parts store and find a match there. Take the drain tube with you as well, just to be sure you don't get one that's too long on the full diameter part, and won't tighten down on the tube mount.

And get the good stuff. not the soft stuff. It's very very worthwhile. Much less likely to come loose and leak later.

Thanks, but taking the turbo back off is not an option at this point! It's taken all I have to get it to this point. Having said that, I think I found the right ones. I think part of the problem was that the tech PDF indicated that they should have 10mm heads, but the ones that seem to be working have 8mm heads. I also compared them to the picture of the bolts seen here and they appear to be the right ones

Ok I was able to get the gasket and both bolts on and snug, but my torque wrench simply won't fit down there? Any suggestions on torquing them to spec if I can't use my torque wrench?

Longer extension with a flex socket on the end.

I finally got all bolts attached and torqued to spec, but now I can't find the bolts for the heat shield.
I know they are 13mm, but that's literally all I know about them. Can anyone tell me if all three are the same size or is the one that attaches to the side of the turbo shorter?
Anyone happen to have a part number or a picture of them? I can't even find a diagram of them on mopar parts.

The three are the same, and seem oddly short IIRC they have flanged heads.

Thanks for the help.

I even stopped by my local dealership and they couldn't figure out what bolts I needed either. They said that they would call Chrysler on monday to see if they could figure it out.

Got the turbo in, took about 8 hours spread over two days. It didn't help that I had to install the oil return pipe three times, mostly due to my own stupidity

Runs great now, but it took a lot of torque to stop the return pipe from leaking oil. A few notes:

The bolts for the return are M6x1.0 with an 8mm head. If you want to replace them with studs I would use about a 1.25 inch stud.

I used the bolts so I could avoid a trip to town for studs. My method was to use a deep 8mm socket on a 1/4 inch ratchet. It's small enough to get into that tight space but just long enough to clear the bottom of the turbo so you can turn it.

I found it useful to remove the front passenger wheel to give you more elbow room, but you will have to position your jack stands to allow access from below-- be careful!

My only problem now is that it's still smoking like crazy! There was a fair amount of oil in the hoses, probably from the blown turbo, so with a new turbo and new hoses I figure it must be burning oil from the intercooler. Anyone else have this problem?

LMAO I forgot about that part!

Yeah it took a good 1/2 hr & 20 miles and a couple thousand pissed off fellow drivers, for it to clean it's throat.

But it was cleaning out the tailpipe at the same time as well.

Not sure you can ever get all the accumulated oil out of the bottom of a CAC!
Only sure way is to remove CAC and wash it out with some good degreaser and flush well.

When I did my timing belt job a few years ago, I pulled CAC and it had about a pint or so of old oil in cooler that got there from OEM Crankcase Ventilation system.
That is when I installed a ProVent filter to trap oil and keep it out of Charge Air System...

The CAC cleaning will have to wait for another day (it's my daughters car and she's headed back to college!). I have rigged an elephant hose to take care of the CV oil problem for now.

BTW Gornado, I didn't get any oil line bolts from Sasquatch, guess you have to buy the full kit to get them. If I had to do it over I would definitely use studs though.

Did you have to remove the exhaust manifold to get the turbo off? My turbo just went out.

What happened to it? What are symptoms? No you don't have to remove the exhaust manifold.
