wondering if anyone knows where to get these sleeves for the CAC hoses https://1drv.ms/i/s!AjoXnVa96mPNmJcwVl8hdhTTgCE5vw

i don't know what to call them. They prevent the hose from ballooning under pressure ...

I'm not sure if there is a better source for something specific for a turbo, but you can find these sleeves as well as all sorts of fittings, pumps, valves, etc at McMaster-Carr industrial supply. It is kind of like the supermarket of the industrial world.

If no one chimes in with exactly what you need, you might find something suitable in the link above. Good luck!

I don't believe good quality silicone boost hoses require them.
They were used on the lower quality OEM rubber hoses...

The woven sleeves are completely unnecessary.
If you buy new factory hoses they will come with them.
Or you can buy silicone hoses (samco), they don't have them.
Or you can do like do like I did and make your own with aluminum tube and silicone elbows.

Could be wrong, but I don't think the purpose is to prevent the hose from ballooning under pressure. I think they're to protect the hose from other objects from rubbing against them due to engine vibration and damaging them.

i have the mishimoto hoses and they balloon quite a bit. It's a little alarming to see it.
I was thinking the woven sleeve maybe wouldn't expand.
it may be worth experiment. i'll see if it has any effect. maybe do a video

I used Black IDParts silicone hoses, and put new black woven nylon sleeves over them to get the stock look. With black silicone tape at both ends of both hoses, the stock look is complete.

Hey GordnadoCRD,

Where did you get the sleeves? Do you have the receipt or part info, size etc?

Looks like McMaster-Carr has it?

The hydraulic shop that I bought all the Parker PolyGuard material for my wiring loom remake project had some on a spool. I can't remember what it was called, but it wasn't a Parker product. IIRC it was vari- somethingorother. I got 3 feet expanded, and they didn't charge me cause it was a really slow mover and they were going to ditch it at year end inventory. I should have gotten the whole roll LOL. I'll post it if I can find it.

Edit: OK it is generically referred to as Expandable Braided Sleeving. The size I got was 2" nominal. It was good for something like 1.75" to 3.5" depending on how much you compress or stretch it.
Found some on Amazon.

Expandable? I guess it is just for cut/scuff protection.

Ok well thanks for looking it up I'll check it out

It kind of depends on what they are made of, but they really do give resistance to swelling. "Expandable" refers to the weave. If you compress the length, the diameter expands. As you stretch the length, the diameter tightens.
The weave is exactly like the Chinese Finger Cuffs party trick if you've ever seen that. Once it is fully on, and stretched to length, the only way you can get them off is compressing them again, and if the ends are held in place, it just ain't happening!
PET is a good material, resists heat to well over 400 degrees F, and has very high tensile strength.

I am of the opinion its for rubbing more than expansion. I tried to get the stock stuff over the samco, but the samco hoses are just thick enough it wont go.

That doesn't surprise me, and you are probably right about what they are for.

The IDParts are silicone lined in both hoses, but the hose size and thickness is like the late model factory CAC-to-manifold hose rather than Mishimoto or Samco hoses. The main difference is the thickness of the silicone lining. This wasn't the reason I put the woven stuff over them, but it certainly won't hurt. The stuff I got was just a touch bigger than the oem weave. It's also a bit heavier duty. As long as the ends aren't allowed to contract, then every inch between them won't be growing in diameter.

Here you can see the turbo to CAC hose.

yeah it may be wishful thinking. if it doesn't prevent expansion, the abrasion protection is more important as the hoses puff up in that tight space. i'll post back if i make any progress with it.
