need help upgrading libby

working on a $450 dollar budget I need to take the "soccer mom" out of my libby, my girl looks better driving it than i do. I could go rockfather 2 with 8000 prerunner shocks, or get tow hooks, hidden hitch, tint front windows, all the air deflectors and bug gaurds (mainly cosmetic crap). I just put 245/70 revo's (wrangler sr-a's suck) on today and crave more.

First consider skids and tow hooks if you're going off-road.

If you're just looking for cosmetic changes on-the-cheap:

Real Cheap:
- if it's a pre-2005 get clear turn signals front and rear, they look hot.
- change out flares/grill for a different one (chrome?)
- grill inserts. all over the place on eBay, real cheap
- Interior panel stickers. I don't personally like them, but some people swear by them. They make them in al ot of different wood patterns, brushed aluminum, etc.

More Expensive:
- Roof basket adds character
- More lights always look nice, especially if they are roof lights mounted to the basket.
- Rock rails that act as steps are pretty nice. Even just steps if you aren't planning on going offroad.

Real Expensive:
- Rims (if you have stock sport rims, change them out for renegade or moab, or a different alloy)
- Tires (more meat = less soccer mom)
- Lift (bigger looks better. if you're not going offroad you can go with a spacer lift, but even on the road a real coil lift rides better)

Unless you are going offroad, don't bother with the skids+towhooks. I'll probably catch flak for that, but realistically, if you want cosmetic changes, nobody notices skid plates + hooks. Actually, nobody notices a lift, either, I put a frankenlift on my jeep and only a small percentage of my friends knew that anything changed. When I told them it was lifted they said it was already higher than the vehicles they normally ride in, so they didn't really notice it at all. I personally like the look of it a LOT better with the lift.

Paint it camo like Wally did...it won't look cute anymore, that's for sure. 10 cans of spray paint is about $40.

i say put on the skids then go wheel the crap out of it and dont buff out the scraches after
i felt the same way about the wifes KJ until we started wheeling it

Cut out the fender wells and add 33" or 35" boggers. Replace all axles with chrome moly ones. Add lockers. Thats the only way to get more ground clearance with IFS.

If the KJ is heading at me I look down for tow hooks...
If the KJ is heading away I am looking for a fuel skid... :shock:

I feel like a perv checking out the ladies as they walk at or away from me! hahahahaha!

well I got one hell of a deal through a local shop for 30% off all mopar, so I got my cosmetic package plus tow hooks and hidden hitch, i needed the hooks and hitch for bloomsdale MO's MUDFEST, a lift will only get you so far before your trying to find a spot on the frame to yank from which is not my preferred method. I just won't go swamping and pray that my new revo's will pull me through. thank you all for the suggestions minus the cutting of fender flares and painting camo, I just got out of the usmc...trust me, I've seen enough camo. the lift will come, its just a matter of time

1: what's the name of a tow hook that attaches to a rear hitch?
2: Have you guys ever heard of using a high jack and chain/rope as a "makeshift" winch?

Yes, the highlift jack can be used as a winch. Learn how to use it or someone might mistake you for a hockey player. Heres some info:

You could get a reciever shackle instead of a hook (reciever hook?). You don't have to worry about the tow strap slipping off, just unscrew the giant bolt, add the strap, then put the giant bolt back on.

A hitch pin also works great and is easier than a shackle. It doesn't look as cool though
