My rear callipers are sticking and the rubber dust shields for the rams are shredded, do the calliper repair kits work?

Caliper pistons are phenolic plastic which have a nasty habit of eventually swelling and sticking in the bore causing the pads to drag. Yes caliper repair kits can work; I've used them but only with stainless steel pistons. That said new or reman calipers with a warranty are cheap enough why bother doing a rebuild yourself. IIRC the fr/rr calipers are the same for CRD and gasser.

I just did mine about a month ago. With my OReiley's Rewards, I'm pretty sure I did both of them for under $70.

PS while you are digging into the rear brakes check the condition of the parking brake hardware on the inside of the rotor.
