While changing motor mounts I removed the skid plate,I thought there might be better cooling
of the pan so I did not re install it. Now I think this was not the case, driving yesterday in 80deg
temp the subject line conditions happened. If you let things cool down a bit and start driving
the condition goes away but returns in few miles. Today I re installed the skid plate. The problem
reappeared .
Looking under the vehicle I think the skid plate deflects hot air away from the transmission were
the speed sensors are located. It appears that there are two speed sensors one for speedometer
and another for odometer and other functions. I do not lose speedometer or tach functions only odometer
regular and trip . I wonder if I could have damaged a sensor on the transmission one of them is about two inches from the exhaust pipe.
Any ideas?
Thank you for the help with my previous post of lifting motor for motor mount removal.
Don H

This will happen when the ABS modules loses a speed signal from one of the sensors.

2005 has 3, 2 front, 1 rear
2006 has 4, 2 front 2 rear.

If a 2005 I would suggest looking at the rear speed sensor on the top of the differetial, and check the wiring, this is a common failure and has the exact same symptoms you describe, in fact my 2005 has this issue right now, and its gotten worse since weather warmed up.

The front sensors loosing connection can also do this, as well as both rears in the 2006. Check the wiring and check for loose connections etc related to the speed sensors.

Sir Sam
Thank you for your suggestion. One of the wires to the rear diff speed sensor was broken about a quarter of an inch out side of the connector, I was able to strip the wire back an solder the connection I coated it with liquid tape (for what good it will do)
All is now good!
Thanks

This problem definitely had nothing to do with with a abs sensor, but thanks any way.

By the way Crysler wants $38,00 for a connector kit to repair this. Crook's

Autozone has repair connectors for about $21 each, you can also find them online cheaper.

The ABS sensor uses wheel speed sensors.
On a 2005, there are two in the front and one on the rear axle.
So, the rear diff speed sensor IS a ABS sensor.
