I just found this thread: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=79510&start=40
And this website: https://oregonfuelinjection.com/service ... agnostics/
I will try some of the items suggested this evening.

So, I disconnected the return line and fuel is getting past the fuel pressure solenoid/control valve (0281002507). The darn thing is expensive but I guess that is where I should start. I think I have a vague recollection of removing it until I realized I didn't need to. Well, you can take them out and reinstall them. They are a one time use part. They have a crush/seal function that works only once.

Making sure you are checking for leakage AT THE RAIL FITTING. Don't check it at the multi-return line junction over by the intake manifold, because there is return fuel there coming from the CP3 and injectors as well.

There should be NO fuel coming out of the rail return line while cranking. If there is, you have an electrical problem with the Fuel Pressure Solenoid wiring, or a sticking FPS valve. It is far more likely to be an electrical fault than a faulty FPS unit.

Yes, they are a one time use item.

If you need to replace one, get one for a GMC 6.6L Duramax. Same deal, works fine. That's what I have in mine. Costs about $100

I think I should change it since I think I took it out and then back in and it is now leaking.

So part number 12611872 is correct?
Do you know an application I can use if I call the local parts store? I'm getting 11-15 6.6 LML, LGH Duramax

Is this still accurate:
The procedure is
1) Torque the sleeve to 44 ft lbs.
2) Back the sleeve off 90 degrees.
3) RE-Torque the sleeve to 59 ft lbs

Thanks for the help

That's what I'm using. $90 from Ebay back then.

Still working perfectly.

Just give them the GM part number. It is an LML/LGH Duramax Fuel Rail Pressure Regulator.

As always, nothing going smooth. The part I ordered is a week late and the shipping info hasn't been update in a week so I guess its lost. I am waiting for the seller to cancel and refund the money before I go buy a new one.

I believe the Bosch number is 0281006019

Where did the torque sequence directions come from? I want to make sure I get that right as I think it is the last thing I need to do to turn a Jeep on that hasn't run in a year. I didn't see it in the FSM from Colorado 4x4 but maybe I am not using the resource right.

It is in the online FSM. 3 steps.
Make sure when you put the rail in a vice you use a leather belt or something that will cushion the vice jaws while clamped hard enough to keep it from slipping.
Also be sure you index the new valve correctly (connector to the right of the vehicle) It makes it easier to get the loom fastened up. It will want to spin when you are tightening.

Here is the thread when I did mine.

So it is really beginning to get difficult to not simply post profanity. I just installed the new fuel solenoid per the instructions mentioned earlier. This is after waiting for the new one and then having to reorder it because it never arrived.

STILL NO START WITH FUEL GOING TO THE RETURN BARB ON THE RAIL!

I don't get why the fuel solenoid is not doing its job. I disconnected it to see if that made a difference and it did not. With the fuel leaking past the solenoid I am still getting the message that there is a large fuel leak and the injectors are not opening. Could I have really gotten a bad one from Advance Auto?

I ordered part# 24261
It is for a 2014 GMC 2500 6.6 diesel.

DID I ORDER THE WRONG PART?
What am I missing or do wrong?
:furious:

My initial guess is it's an electrical problem, but just to make sure, I'm going to back up a bit and make sure we're on the same ground.
(make sure you don't have the solenoid connector and the #4 injector connector swapped. Trust me, the connectors are identical, and it's a very easy mistake to make. Not nearly as stupid as it sounds.)

The Fuel Pressure Solenoid operates with a 2 wire PWM circuit.
"Normal" condition is fuel bypass (almost no rail pressure)
Voltage applied (key on) pressurizes the pintle, causing rail pressure to build.

With fuel return from rail barb draining into a catch container, and the fuel return manifold capped to prevent it from spraying, have someone use the key to crank the engine for 3-5 seconds or so. There should be NO fuel coming from the fuel rail when cranking with the key.

If there is fuel coming past the solenoid, I would first, disconnect the solenoid, and check for solenoid coil continuity.
I can't remember what the ohm value is offhand, but the FSW gives the proper ohm range, as well as pin numbers, etc if you need to go to the next step.

If the solenoid checks out, check the loom-side connector and pin-test loom wires at the ECM.

By the time you get here, I'm sure you will have found the problem.

If you have had the injectors and the rail disconnected, it is easy to get the connectors swapped to the wrong place. HOWEVER it is also easy to identify the correct connectors even without any labels.

Look at the wire looms. Sensors play with each other, injectors work alone. At the back of the wire loom, there will be two wires that come off the bundle and three connectors - the wire with TWO connectors is for the camshaft sensor and the fuel rail solenoid. The wire that is only a single connector is the #4 injector.

Forward of that is a single wire that comes off - that is the #3 injector.
Forward of that is a single wire that comes off - that is the #2 injector.
Forward of that is a GROUP of connectors - that is the #1 injector and the thermostat temperature sensor and the two airbox sensors, the MAF and the intake MAP (NOT the boost MAP).

On the wire harness for the alternator, the boosted MAP sensor and the side rail pressure sensor, but those aren't interchangeable.

Had a little time to follow up. The BWD part you linked should work fine if it's mag and your electrics are good.

Thanks for the tech support. I had to walk away last night.
I will double check the connectors but on mine I think all the injectors had orange plug seals/gaskets and were unique for that reason. Maybe I got paint on a terminal or something or painted over the orange of the other plug. I will beginning checking tonight.

I will also try and find the multi-meter check procedure you mentioned.

The wire details are nice. I will need to check carefully because I re-taped a lot of the harness with cloth protective tape and put new loom on a bunch too.

This is another resource I have been looking to:

The guys at OFI are awesome.
I've spent my share of time on that page. :dizzy:

At the ECM connector:
PIN 4
circuit K369
16ga BR/OR FUEL PRESSURE SOLENOID SUPPLY

PIN 52
circuit K370
16ga BR FUEL PRESSURE SOLENOID CONTROL

See page 8W - 80 - 98 for solenoid-end pinout. (per 2006 manual)

1. OPEN CIRCUITS
Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the Fuel Pressure Solenoid harness connector.
Disconnect the ECM harness connectors.
Visually inspect the related wiring harness. Look for any chafed,
pierced, pinched, or partially broken wires. Repair as necessary.
Visually inspect the related wiring harness connectors. Look for broken,
bent, pushed out, or corroded terminals. Repair as necessary.
Measure the resistance of both Fuel Pressure Solenoid circuits between
the ECM harness connector and the Fuel Pressure Solenoid harness
connector.
Is the resistance below 10.0 ohms for both measurements?
Yes >> Go To 2
No >> Repair open circuit(s) as necessary.

2. FUEL PRESSURE SOLENOID RESISTANCE
Measure the resistance of the Fuel Pressure Solenoid.
Is the resistance between 3.5 and 5.5 ohms?
Yes >> Test Complete.
No >> Replace the Fuel Pressure Solenoid.

EDIT: Both the GM part and the Mopar part measured 3.8ohms for me.

3. CHECKING FOR AIR IN FUEL SYSTEM
Start the engine.
With the scan tool, compare the Fuel Pressure Setpoint with the Actual Fuel Pressure readings.
NOTE: If there is air in the fuel system, the Actual Fuel Pressure will oscillate more than 100 spi above
and/or below the Fuel Pressure Setpoint.
Does Actual Fuel Pressure oscillate more than 100 psi above and/or below the Fuel Pressure Setpoint?
Yes >> Refer to the Service Information to purge air from the fuel system.
Perform the ECM Verification Test Ver. 1 (Refer to 9 - ENGINE - DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING).
No >> Go To 4

4. FUEL PRESSURE SOLENOID
With the scan tool, compare the Fuel Pressure Setpoint with the Actual Fuel Pressure readings.
NOTE: A sticking Fuel Pressure Solenoid is indicated by Actual Fuel Pressure gradually dropping below the
Fuel Pressure Setpoint then suddenly increasing (spiking) above the Fuel Pressure Setpoint.
Does Actual Fuel Pressure gradually decrease then suddenly increase (spike) above the Fuel Pressure
Yes >> Replace the Fuel Pressure Solenoid in accordance with the Service Information.
Perform the ECM Verification Test Ver. 1 (Refer to 9 - ENGINE - DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING).
No >> Go To 5

So, I just knew I couldn't have switched them because all the "injectors plugs" had orange gaskets and one did not. I switched them anyway. Code gone...… Still not start. Only code I have is the ambient temp sensor that is disconnected. I will continue to crank away in hope that it is just air. I guess the previous owner lost the little orange gasket for that plug.

From what I quickly googled, I gather the crank position sensor (which also causes a no start) throws a code right?

Will update.

Often it WILL NOT throw a code.

This was the last Pcode he posted: P0093 - Fuel System Leak Detected - Large Leak
Sounds like the fuel rail is not building pressure?

Do you have a scan tool capable of displaying or trending fuel rail pressure?

The code is the large fuel leak one P0093.

I have an hour between family event stuff. Two big separate observations occurred in that time.

(1)
I just noticed that since I switched the plugs the solenoid does not leak when I crank. 20 seconds after I stop cranking (there is no leak to the return line while I crank) the solenoid opens and fuel comes out. Before I think it just leaked while I cranked.

(2) while attempting to switch the plugs back to confirm the fuel leaked when I cranked some weired stuff happened. IF I move the wiring harness and kinda flex it arround the one of the two plugs has a continuous pulsed output. One plug, when the power is on, makes the device energize and unenergize about 3 times a second. I can hear the solenoid valve nailing or the injector opening. WTF I pulled the injector fuse and nothing changed. :dizzy:

I have to leave now. So I will have to puts with it later and report back.

The scan tool is a cheap 30 dollar one. I will have to check later.
