My front is lifted only 1.25 inches (20.25 center wheel to flare, not 21.25 as I first wrote). It was this way when I bought it. I need to lift it more to get better wheel clearance but my dilemma is I can’t tell how it was lifted. I see no extra isolators and it looks to be fully seated in the clevis. There is a black spring with about 9 coil turns. There is no spacer on the top of the strut assembly (between the Jeep and the top mount). I am not sure how thick the spring isolators are supposed to be. I kinda suspect it was lifted with bigger isolators, is that a thing? The coils seem close to each other so I would be disappointed if these or the heavy duty OME springs now. I have a CRD with a second battery and a brush guard up front so that adds a little weight and will probably be adding more.

I guess the main thing I need to learn is if I have OME springs now. That is how I want to lift it. I wish I could afford the JBA coil overs. I also want to add a top plate spacer to end up with 2.5-2.75 inches of lift.

Second item: What are the best shocks to use up front?

The standard height for most CRDs is 19 inches.
So you have about 2.25 inch of lift.
You most likely have the OME springs. If you look carefully you might find the tag still stuck to the coil.
If you need more lift, add a top plate or clevis spacers.

Yes. All CRDs, whether stock or OME, have front coils that seem very close together. It’s just the nature of the beast. It also makes front spring/shock swaps difficult for the DIY guy. Best to use a wall mounted strut compressor like most shops have.

Oh, and Bilsteins are usually considered the best shocks to use.

Edit.
Also, carefully inspect your upper ball joints for wear and movement.
If they need replacement, JBA upper arms for a lifted KJ are highly recommended.
I completed my lift back in November and am already seeing excessive play in the upper ball.
Upper ball joints are a huge pain to replace too.
I replaced mine two years ago :x
So guess what I have to do now...

Anyone try these:
https://skyjacker.com/shop/component-box/lib250/

Here are the detailed instructions:
https://skyjacker.com/download/i-lib250/

I just called them, the spring rate for the platinum series is 420.

Spring Rate info for OME springs and stock springs found here:
http://www.sleeoffroad.com/installation ... _specs.pdf
Stock Spring Rate is 400
2790 Spring Rate is 500

Those coils are only rated at 310lbs,there "pre-lowered" kits(1st 6 months of production way back in 2004) there coils were rated at 425lbs but to many complained because they gave almost 4" of lift and kept killing UBJ's(no JBA's back then) so they reduced them to 310lbs thus reducing the lift to a actual 2.5" lift.

They are 420 I just called the tech support who looked them up. I don't know if these are a different model from previous.

I have a set of those coils right here and there stamped 310lbs,replacements they sent me when I was still IFS when a shocked failed.

I will look on these ones for a spring rate stamping when they arrive tomorrow. Where were yours stamped?

Tag around coil.

Telling you the skyjacker coils are stock gas KJ rated, been widely known for 14 years now.

I hope they are not wrong. That low spring rate would perform poorly.

I got them yesterday. The only thing on the springs is the spring’s model number. I am going to try them out since the manufacturer of these specific springs states they are 420 lbs-inch. I don’t think it is reasonable to think they are lying. They stated the rate was only 310 in the past and I bet they were and I bet they sucked.

I am familiar with 2 versions of skyjacker springs having existed previously. Neither was good. These may be a third version. If they are new springs, no one on this forum would be familiar with them. I wish they were 450 but o well. There is a lifetime warranty on them and the shocks. I will let everyone know what the result is. I paid 340 for new springs and shocks. If they don’t work right and the Jeep isn’t lifted 2.5-3 inches as stated I will demand a refund. If they do work now but in 4 years they sag down to 2 inches of lift, I will get new springs under the warranty.

Seems like it is worth a try.

What is the stock center of wheel to flare measurement for the back? I got JBA 2.5" springs back there and want to check them. How much lift can you do before you must begin making other changes. I was thinking about adding an isolator and going up 0.5 inches.

Stock height is usually about 19 inches all the way around.
A 2.5 lift spring will put it at 21.5.

You might want longer rear shocks if you don’t already have them.
Too much rear lift can put too much strain on the factory upper arm. Ball joint and bushings will start making noise.

I have skyjacker rear shocks that are 2 inches longer than stock. They have worked great for me.
My rear springs are actually for a 4-runner with half a coil cut off the top.
My rear sits at about 21.75.

I also removed my rear sway bar.
My rear flexes pretty good.

It sure does.
Did you need to extend any brake lines or anything? How did the driving change when you removed the sway bar?

Mines an 05. So I only had 1 brake line to worry about.
Made my own bracket to drop it down an inch.

No handling issues on the street. But I don’t drive it like a Shelby Mustang. (Well maybe a little ;))

Thinking about trying it with the front sway bar removed.
