I think it's at least twice as thick as the oem gas tank hanger. It's the same basic metal frame with additional metal plating under it, reinforced at the corners.

lfhoward - This is a GREAT thread with awesome information! Many thanks for your research and posting it here.

I am going to start at the front and move backwards as the money allows. After checking the MOPAR site and talking with my parts guy, they have updated the part number on it (not a huge change, but necessary to get the right part):

Radiator Skid Plate - MOPAR Part #52125385AC

Thanks for the compliment and the update! This was one of my first mods, so it's good to know the thread is still helping people.

Have a great Labor Day weekend! :D

Rear KK Driveline Slip Boot - OEM Fuel Tank holder scallops

Great thread, appreciate all for adding to it!

2010 Jeep KK Cherokee (Australian, Liberty in US), 3.7 petrol 4x4

OEM Fuel Tank Holder tooled scallops:
Question: OEM gas tank holder on my Jeep has some small (tooled) scallops in the front section nearest the driveline. There are I've asked around and had suggested it was put in by the factory for acoustic reasons/dampening/tuning. Can anyone comment on this?

During a trip to Fraser Island (Australian East Coast - largest sand island in the world and phenomenal place to 4wd!) I had the rear driveline slip boot compress and of course it rubbed the sharp scallops of the fuel tank holder and destroyed itself!

Rear Driveline Rubber Slip Boot sourcing:
Australian Jeep dealer wants $360 for a bloody rubber boot! Original is about 3.75" ID. Does anyone have a source? Part number? or know if JK or other Jeep one will fit?

Thanks all,
CaptStarboard

It might be too late for some on this thread, but the fuel tank skid is available from vintage parts:

https://www.vpartsinc.com/

It seems like it is no longer a dealer part, and it seems like they end up ordering from here anyway so why not go direct.

For those that installed the Front Plate and the Front Skid plate, there are two slots on the Front Plate where it bolts onto the Front Skid. What bolts did you use? Do they have to be specific ones, or could I just use a standard Gr 5 or Gr 8 bolt with the correct thread?

And on that Front Plate, there are also two holes at the "ends" of the plate - what bolts did you use there? (The Front Plate came with no hardware, and the place I ordered it from isn't responding to my questions...)

Thanks,
Steve

I had leftover bolts from my gas tank skid install that I used to install the front plate (radiator skid). The gas tank skid kit came with new bolts but the old gas tank hanger already had bolts, so thus the extras.

I don't see why a proper grade 8 bolt with a washer wouldn't work in their place.
