IN the pictures it looked like the inside splines were not cut true center end to end. There appeared to be a difference when measuring with a calipers against the screen, but the image is blurry, and could be just light and shadow. It appeared to be no more than 0.010", which if it is the case wouldn't be felt at lower speeds. It could also be that the inner splines have just a touch too much play in the drive splines, but there is no way to determine that from a picture.

No, I really don't think it's the dynamic balancer thing. those things, IMO, were put there to solve vibration problems from mass production tolerances. The double cardan design when done properly should be better at eliminating vibration.

As far as I can tell from the image, it appears that the U-joints are properly in phase as well.

If the vibration you feel is not wheel/tire frequency, there is really only one thing it could be.

Perhaps if you put the whole thing up on blocks (held up by the axles rather than the frame) and look at it while someone "drives" it from the inside, and see what's shakin'...

Okay, up on blocks, that's a good idea. The new shafts front yoke is for the NP232 transfer case (whats on our CRDs), Oliver's knows jeeps. The yoke was a perfect fit.

I have a vibration analysis device and was hoping to get a nice clean report. But no joy. For those engineering curious here's the analysis.

Some charts showing the frequency vs speed vs amplitude and actual vibration in mils would be most helpful in diagnosing.
That is the kind of data that I was accustomed to in the large steam turbine world. :dizzy:

I thought we have a 242 transfer case?

I thought we have a 242 transfer case?

My understanding? Lots of different numbers out there for Jeeps. :dizzy:
Sports have the Command-Trac NP/NV-231
Limiteds have the Selec-Trac NP242

Every CRD in NA came with a 242 though.

It was just a mix up on his part. I think he knew that. I just hope this got fixed for his sake and for ours if a new drive shaft option is now available with the kinks worked out.

So I am guessing that this ultimately didn't end well?

On another note, what the hell happens when you run 3.25" of lift. My jeep bangs on bumps either because the UCA is hitting the spring or possibly the bottom of the UCA pockets. I only have the OME lift and JBA top plates. Are you gunna have any downtravel left at that height?
