I noticed there’s a warning light for that on the dash. Anyone know what temp it will kick on?

Lots of good information in the FSM:> http://www.colorado4wheel.com/manuals/Jeep/KJ/

² Trans Over-Temp Lamp-On Message - Each time the cluster receives a trans over-temp lamp-on message from the PCM indicating that the transmission fluid temperature is 135° C (275° F) or higher, the indicator will be illuminated. The indicator remains illuminated until the cluster receives a trans over-temp lamp-off message from the PCM, or until the ignition switch is turned to the Off position, whichever occurs first.

The transmission range sensor (TRS) has an integrated thermistor that the TCM uses to monitor the transmission’s sump temperature. Since fluid temperature can affect transmission shift quality and convertor lock up, the TCM requires this information to determine which shift schedule to operate in. The TCM also monitors this temperature data so it can energize the vehicle cooling fan(s) when a transmission “overheat” condition exists. If the thermistor circuit fails, the TCM will revert to calculated oil temperature usage.

16. Transmission Temperature Warning Light
This light indicates that there is excessive transmission fluid temperature that might occur with severe usage such as trailer towing or snow plowing. If this light comes on, stop the vehicle and run the engine at idle or faster, with the transmission in N (Neutral) until the light goes off.

Cool thanks for that. Good to know, now I don’t feel like I need to have the temp gauge very high on my to-do list. I reworked the system considerably by putting in braided stainless hoses and AN fittings going to a plate style cooler that I had laying around. It’s just behind the grille on the drivers side, and it has no fans ahead of it so I’m not sure how well it will cool at slow speeds. Good to know that it will engage the AC fan however my cooler is no longer serviced by that fan. I guess I could plumb in the factory cooler loop inline, but I didn’t know if that would be needed. I feel like my new Chevy truck Engine cooling fan pulls a lot more air even when it’s totally disengaged so it might give a little cooling to the trans but not much. But now that I know there’s a lamp I’m feeling a little better.
