Thanks much. So selected a gauge with temperature sensor. Do you see any drawbacks with option #3? Would an inline sensor present any flow restrictions for the oil? Also, after driving for 15-20 minutes the Remote cooler fans kicked on and later went off. The Derale sensor switch is set for 180 degrees. So I guess that means it is working properly.
The one drawback to option #3 is; if you install the sensor in the oil line leaving the transmission and going to the cooler, the temperature on the gauge when the transmission is under load will be about 20-25 deg.s higher than what the temperature is in the oil pan. (Hottest value)
I have two (duel) sensors and a switch so I am able to compare temperatures in both locations on the fly when the fluid is at its hottest values when pulling a loaded trailer in hot 95+ ambient temperature conditions.
Before I added the deep sump PML oil pan, it was not uncommon to see fluid temperatures around 240 deg.s F in the oil line leaving the transmission when the transmission is under load in hot ambient conditions.
