I called autobarn.com and they said they didn't stock a Mobil M1-211. They gave me Mobil's support number; called Mobil and they said they don't sell an M1-211.

So unless someone can provide a better source or part number for Mobil filters, Mobil doesn't make an oil filter for our CRD's.
They didn't stock them when I ordered mine either, but was able to get them and ship them to me.

I'm probably not using a special code word then 'cause autobarn told me they don't have 'em and they can't get 'em. Mobil says there is no such part number. Champion Labs (they make the mobil filters) say they don't exist. Maybe they discontinued them? :?

I have one sitting on the shelf in the garage, should I take a picture and post it for the world to see??? Why would they discontinue them so soon? Doesn't make sense. I may have to do some reasearch tomorrow and find out some more info about this filter.

Well, amazon like your part number (this confused me too, it was the top hit on Google for me though!)

AutoZone called their Mobile 1 rep for me, who told them the filter number for the CRD is M1-211. They had to order it - still don't stock it.

Doesn't surprise me. As far as their computer system is concerned, the CRD doesn't even exist. Tried to get them to order the filter while I was in the store, and their system only lists the 2.4 and 3.7 gas engines for both '05 and '06. They told me if it wasn't in the computer, they couldn't order it.

OK, I'm game. I'll go on autobarn.com and order some Mobil M1-211's.

There is a Ford (SVT?) that takes the same filter (M1-211) and they are having the same problem.

Mobil has come out with a new Truck & SUV 5w-30 for GASOLINE ENGINES ONLY. The "old" Truck & SUV 5w-40 is now called Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel Truck 5w-40. I'm told by Mobil that it's identical to the old Truck & SUV 5w-40; just a new name.

Here's more information.

What about for the folks that live in really cold climates? The 0W-40 Mobil 1 will get oil moving to critical engine parts alot faster than a 5W oil would. Thats my only concern really. I use 0W-40 in my car too for the same reason...

I live in a fairly cold climate and do not have a problem running a 5w-40 over a 0w-40. I think Mobil's 5w-40 is a better diesel oil than their 0w-40. I'm eventually going to switch to a 5w-40 and change oil every 10,000 miles. With Mobil's 0w-40 (because it only has a CF rating versus a CI-4 rating for their 5w-40 Turbo diesel truck) I would change it every 5,000-7,000 miles.

Thats good information, didnt realized it was rated higher. I know on my car the oil pressure builds almost instantly when its very cold out, as opposed to the 5W-30 Mobil 1 I used to run in it.

The manual for the CRD says I can go 12,500 miles on the 0W-40, just FYI...

Thanks KJbob. That info wasn't on Mobil's site when I check a while ago.

Noting that Mobil1 has changed the name of the Truck&SUV diesel rated oil - I put a lot of information about API service classifications in this post that you might want to check out. But basically, the 0w40 CF rated oil that they spec in the manual is not best for the CRD engine. Don't take my word for it, see my previous post that has the info straight from the API...

The 12,500 mile oil change interval is a "normal service" interval; it's about half that for "severe service". DCX's definition of severe service in the owner's manual puts me closer to severe service than normal service.

At any rate, I would not run any oil in my CRD for that long unless an oil analysis supports it. I plan on doing oil analysis when I start stretching my interval to 10,000 miles. Who knows...I may be able to do longer oil change intervals.

I can't find any info about the M1-211 ANYWHERE.

None of the sites linked to from Mobil-1's site (listed as places to buy on their oil filter page) - including AutoBarn - have the 211.

I wondering if Mobil has discontinued the filter. I only ordered two from the Autobarn when I bought them back last Nov, now I will have to find another filter. I may even drop back to OEM as the price is good compared to aftermarket filters.

Interestingly, here is the Amazon "compatibility chart" for the out-of-stock M1-211 filter:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/compatibility-chart/B000CIXOWG/ref=au_pf_fb_cc/104-4614465-1226365

I wonder if it is accurate, and if so if it would be easier to find a CRD filter at auto parts stores if you give one of the more common vehicle applications - like the 2L Ford Focus... They would have to have that in their computers...
