Have you bought the stereo already? If not, go to Crutchfield.com. They include all the wiring harnesses, faceplates, and detailed, vehicle specific instructions FOR FREE. Maybe even think about returning what you already have if you recently bought it.

If not, you need to go to a stereo shop or best buy, etc and get a wiring harness adapter, antenna adapter and faceplate for your KJ. Then you wire up the adapter to the stereo's harness, and prepare to swap the old stereo for it.

To remove the bezel around the radio, you remove 1 screw near the cigarette lighter plug, and then take off the whole panel that houses the radio, heater controls, and middle vents by pulling outwards. Be careful of the wires connected to the heater controls.

Once the bezel is off, you should see a couple screws attached to the stock head unit. Remove those, and swap in the new unit. Easy as that.

Try not to pull the tubes off of the A/C mode control, I tried pulling them off mine and now the control hisses whenever I change it.

you probably want to be more specific....there are apparently a lot of states that think they are the tri-state area :-)

I agree with the crutchfield advice, not only do you get all the kits, you also get great instructions you can just throw away because it's just that easy! color-coded even! Plus if you're new, you get $20 off an order of $200 or more (pm for details, shameless plug)

You'll want to pick up a box of butt-connectors or other crimp-style connectors to attach the jeep wiring harness to the stereo harness, then you just plug the big plastic clips together and bolt it into the jeep, just too easy.

yup, it's about 1.5. The fit kit will be for a 1 din stereo in the larger opening. It fits really well with the curved corners and all.
