I dunno Pete, I came outta work Tuesday night and was sitting at a light when I realized the Libby was kinda shaking. I really thought it was a fuel thing - like it was on the verge of stalling. The light changed and I feathered the gas to get through the intersection - it started really buckin and making more noise. So I pulled right over and called Dan. When he got there he pretty much started it and shut it off. It sounded like there was a gremlin under there with a hammer!

Called the 800 number and had a tow truck there in 20 minutes. Brought to Butch at Lakes and was told the next day I'd be getting a new motor. The new motor is coming up from Boston and they said I should have her back on Monday. They're tearing it down now to diagnose the cause. Butch said he's never seen anything like it on a Libby with this mileage.

So far the warranty coverage has been very good, no red tape with the rental car and no argument about replacing versus repairing.

Ya know, thinking back, I feel like it's never idled right - maybe it was just a ticking time bomb.

I'll keep ya posted!

Yeah, with that mileage there was definitely something wrong from the start. Glad you are getting a new motor!

Well guys - I got her back - only got a short block. Butch said it spun a bearing - they determined there was nothing wrong with the top half of the motor so they wouldn't replace the whole thing. I'm not to happy about that...doesn't make me have a lot of long term faith in my ride...but what are ya gonna do?!

I'd keep a close eye on it. Anytime you have internal engine damage, there's potential for fine metal particulates to make their way around the engine through oil circulation after the damage occurs. This can lead to scoring of cam journals, valve seats, etc. Believe me, I know. It ain't pretty.
