I got my Scangauge II today. 2 days after ordering.

I hooked it up...man...it doesn't get any easier. I did the setup, which is easy. I cleared the MAF code (dang guy at Jiffy Lube left it unhooked! LOL!). The light went out immediately. SWEET!

I set up the gauge screen to display data that the dash doesn't give you:

Intake air temp
Voltage
Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP)
Miles Per Gallon (which works regardless of what the web site says)

You can look at a bunch of other stuff. It also tracks a few things under the "Trip Computer". Things like max speed, max RPM, etc.

From what I can tell, it looks like max turbo boost is somewhere around 30psi. I saw it jump to 32psi at one time, and strangely enough that wasn't at WOT. At idle it give a pretty steady 15psi of boost. That little turbo is working it's butt off. LOL! :)

Coolant temp is interesting. Midway on the gauge is 175F. That seems pretty cool to me. I though for sure it would run hotter than that.

I bought it mostly to read and clear codes, but it does so much more. Forget spending a ton on gauges and gauge pods. Just velcro a Scangauge II to your dash and plug it in the ODBII port.

The only thing I wish it had was transmission temp...but you can't have it all. :)

Keep us posted on whether you have any problems with it going to sleep. I have wanted a Scangauge for a while. I really like the idea and could tolerate it taking a few naps.

I think it's reading 15psi because that's atmospheric pressure. It's reading absolute pressure (MAP). In other words, zero boost.

Sounds right. Ranger1 and I did boost readings at various points including WOT on both our vehicles with his Eqqus scan tool. At first we thought both of our vehicles were hitting 40 psi spikes at WOT. Later on, we realized that the Eqqus was reading out in inches of mercury, after remembering that MAP pressure was reading 29.8 with the engine still off. After doing the conversion (1 inch mercury roughly equals 1/2 psi), both vehicles came in just shy of 20 psi boost at WOT.

For that matter, the FSM says when testing the intercooler for leaks to not go above 20 psi max or you could damage the intercooler.

Yep, 14.7 (sea level) is one atmosphere so you need to adjust. I am leaning toward getting a Scan II for the extra info

I velcroed it below the vents and above the radio. I can see it good there.

I've been playing with it some today. I like the trip features, which aren't suppsed to work on the CRD, but do.

You can sort by Tank, Trip, Day, or current (don't know how it knows the time??). It's a sweet rig for the price.

Did they fix the problem where it stopped receiving data from the computer?

I haven't seen it stop. But the Scangauge reports that I've only drive .9 hours with it hooked up. :)

The Scangauge did the "lock up" thing once today, but it wasn't really locked up. Some parameters would still work, and the Scangauge itself worked fine. It's as if the ECU stopped sending signals to it.

After a restart, it was fine.

Clears codes like a champ though! :)

You're right, the problem is not and never was the Scangauge itself. The communications bus on the CRD is somewhat kludged. Two masters where there is only supposed to be one. Some of the firmware revisions in the CRD do not play well with aftermarket code scanners at all. Glad to hear yours works decent.

If you keep the ORM, how many starts does it take for it to throw a code after clearing it? I just need two, maybe one, clear run to pass come inspection time....I have no intention of ever re-engaging the "on-road" MAF sensor.

The CEL light comes on after the next start. If you pull up to the testing station, clear the code, and keep the vehicle running, you're in good shape.

You can clear it on the fly.

argh. I was hoping I'd get one run. I can't be sure, but I believe I usually have to turn the car off, maybe not at the state stations. At the private places I definitely do.

Hmmm, stil hoping for an electronic fix.

I've been interested in this device for some time too. So is its only use to clear codes and display extra info ? Is anything adjustable ?

what are they worth in the states ?

There is a command line interface, but I have no clue what it can do. You can send commands to the computer, just have to know how I guess.
