I have an idea:

Trails are getting closed all over the place. This in some ways is for very good reason, as many off roaders are not very responsible in their land use it seems. Obviously four-wheeling impacts the land and environment in which you ride, but it doesnt have to impact to the extent that it does. Now the community has a pretty bad name when it comes to this stuff, and the people here on LOST seem a bit more responsible and level headed then a lot of the others.

Last time I was down in KY in Daniel Boone National Forest, I noticed how much garbage there was on the trails. This is totally unexcusible. Garbage and truck parts being left on the trails has nothing to do with four-wheeling. It has to do with being lazy and careless and having a general disregard for your surroundings and others who wish to use the public land in a responsible fashion.

So, my idea is that we make a run in DBNF. We'll still be wheeling and having fun and climbing rocks and all of that. The only difference is that we'll have the backs of our Jeeps stocked with garbage bags. Not only will we pack out what we pack in (as always) but we will take the crap we find. I think this is a great way for us to give back to the area that we use for our recreation since we go there and use the land for free. I believe that DBNF is considering closing a lot of the areas to motor use because of garbage and off trail use. This would be our way to help out to keep the land open.

There are a couple runs already planned right now, so we should wait a bit if anyone is interested. It would also be good to go later in the year when the undergrowth is gone so we can see the garbage better.

Any interested parties?

We cleaned up the cave alittle last time I was there.

Wouldnt be a problem to clean up the trail as we went.
