I am thinking it may be time for a new front bumper and I need some directions on how to take the stock one off. Anyone with any links or pics on a how to remove the 05 and newer KJ front bumper?

Thanks

Just give it a try it is not that hard to remove just about anything on the front end. I removed the grill and bumper about two weeks ago to install the front tow hooks. I think that it took me about 1 min to remove the above

But, you didn't answer his question. There is instructions somewhere, maybe over on the Jeep KJ Forum. I know I saw it somewhere. I haven't done it so I can't help you on it.

Well then, if you haven't stumbled across this yet take a look: 05+ tube bumper for sale

And if you had stumbled across it, never mind...

EDIT: OK, so you already knew. :P

If I had the money available that would've been gone as soon as it hit the board!

Any better front or head on pics of an 05+ KJ with the front bumper removed?

Ok, I just need to see how much the unibody frame sticks out passed the grill on each side.

Hmm... well, the bumper I want to use is really short and goes about 6" passed the crush caps on both sides and so the extra frame would stick out passed it. Not sure if I want that extra frame just sitting out there. It looks like it will only be 2 or 3 inches of frame showing on the ends but... not sure if I will like it. Guess I gotta stick it up against my jeep and see.

Thanks for the pics.

Well, I'll have the test bumper by Saturday maybe Sunday.

Then I'll know for sure if it is a go or not. I am still afraid there will be too much of that crap showing on the ends of the bumper. :? :?

The question is, Will it be worth it?????

The two holes on the ends, passed the crush caps, from there over will show. Everything else will be pretty covered. The washer will def. need to be moved. :?

But the new bumper will be winch capable, have 2 d-ring shackles, a short skid (kind of useless actually) and a small brush guard that 2 lights mount on top of. It is made of 1 3/4" tubes and 3/16" steel plating. It will mount in 2 spots with 4 bolts in each location for 8 bolts total.

All for under $300 shipped to my house.

We'll see what happens.

Well, I am 99% sure the bumper is a go.

The unibody junk that sticks out sucks because it shows but I will get over it plus I can always put the stock one back on if I decide it bugs me too much-which won't happen. The front fenders look awesome with out anything below them, you can pretty much see my whole front tire.

Need to relocate the washer bottle, move some wires and should be good.

I am ordering it today and off we go.
