08-FL-KK,

I take it the first 3 photos Digger posted for you are the 265/65R17 tires (10.4"W x 30.56"OD) that you mentioned were mounted on 17"x8" rims with 5 1/4" backspace that you have no rubbing issues with your 2" lift?

First off: YES, the first three pics are the 265/65R17(x8) on 5-1/4" BS
I have NO rubbing issues with this setup. I have not been too far off road but I have crossed a couple of ditches and a couple of concrete medians.

Second: those are 285/70R16. They equal out to 33x11.50 and NO they do not fit under a 2in lift. The back I don't think would have a problem, but the front would need some serious modifications to the wheelwells.

I bet with Rock Lizards (in the works) long rocker guards and some bumper modifications it would work. Now mind you those are 4-3/4" BS rims that I tired on there. With a slightly narrower tire and a little more BS there might be less trimming to do.
Many thanks to my brother who was kind enough to let me put his Unlimited TJ on jackstands during the trial.

How's that lift holding up for you?
Nothing scary, nothing broken?

Still curious. Just underfunded.

Thanks for the info. It really helps those of us who are trying to figure out wheel and tire sizing.

Right Digger? Right unclejjg?

Digger, one thing I've figured out so far, is that there aren't ton of 16" wheels out there with 5" (or greater) backspacing. At least not wheels that at least appear like they could be driven off road. I've been focusing on searching for 16" rim options, but I bet you would have more choices going with 17" but I'm not sure (yet).

are you sure they are 285/70 16
http://www.bfgoodrichtires.ca/specs/mud ... /3930.html
according to this chart 285/75 16 are 33.1 overall diameter. they dont have 285/70 16 in that chart

with 4-3/4 backspace did you had a chance to look how close the tire come to the upper ball joint/A arm and how much they sticked out of the flares

MNKK:
Everything is good. The ride is better now than before the lift. The dealership where I have it serviced doesn't have a problem with the lift either.
 except for the fact it isn't theirs.

Digger:
I have noticed very little power loss due to the larger tires, but then again 130mph was out of the question even before the larger tires. :!: I have noticed that my gas mileage has decreased some. I used to get about 19mpg around town and now I get 16.5. I got as high as 28mpg on the interstate (FL to TN) but the new tires I am only seeing about 22mpg. BUT it is well worth the loss in my opinion.

 By the way: Hopefully, :D in about two weeks I will be rebadging to "Cherokee". And I have ordered factory front tow hooks and the factory front grille guard. I looked at some of the other grille/brush guards and even though the factory is more expensive I like the look of the factory better.

 My Bad: Bridgestone Revo's - 285/75-16 still same size quoted though

They only stuck out from the flares probably less than an inch :?:

But there was no room what so ever for the tires to turn. The wells would have taken a pounding. As far as closeness to the ubj it wasn't that bad I was able to get my skinny fingers between them.

Right Digger? Right unclejjg?

Agreed. If he's able to fit the 265/65R17 (30.6" and wider) under there with a 2" lift, I'm thinking I can fit a the 245/70/17 (30.5") without a sweat after getting the JBA 2.5" lift....especially keeping the stock wheels with stock backspacing (a concept I'm not fully clear on...hence keeping stock).

I may considering a set of 255/70/17 which would come out to 31.1".

So 08-FL-KK, do you think the tires would have fit better with the stock wheels?

 I am assuming you are asking about the 33s on the factory offset wheels. No, they still would not have fit because then they would have been up against the uca. The 265/65 on the factory wheels gave me just a slight more room in the wheelwells but it made them look too small. I was considering a 265/70 on the factory wheel though. I think those would have fit no problem, but that would mean a little more loss in power (ie: mileage). Then I saw these aftermarket wheels and the new tires were out.

Can you explain why they made it look too small? Is it just a matter of positioning within the wheel well?
