I am looking to lift my KK with:

Daystar 2" Lift

with

- BDS rear shocks
- Al's A-Arms or Insane Arms A-Arms (recommendations)

Tires to match: Hankook Dynapro ATM 245-75-R16

Am I forgetting anything? Any additional recommendations?

This is my first lift and I want to do it right. I am also curious if the PCM can be reprogrammed to match tire size to facilitate ABS, Traction and Stability Control? Thanks for the help.

Nope that sounds like it all, the A Arms aren't needed yet but definitely recommended as eventually the Ball Joints will fail. As for the Reprogramming im wondering the same thing since putting my Daystar Lift in

Most guys here will vow by the JBA Arms but the RRO outfitters look good with the lower price and grease able bushings. But im getting the JBA Arms because i want my suspension to be red to match the SkyJacker Theme and most guys here have them and have given them good reviews

Maybe Digger can verify this is the same for the Libby.
On a Nitro here are the stock sizes that can be programed into the system.
Stock sizes; Diameter
225/75R16 = 29.3 in
235/65R17 = 29.0 in
245/50R20 = 29.6 in
The key is the total diameter.

Check out this tire calculator.

The whole tire thing is well

I have never seen and/or heard a for sure answer to the pinion reset procedure...

To my CURRENT knowledge as per the FSM, the only sizes that are listed under the specifications are as followed,

P225/75R16
REVOLUTIONS PER MILE 712

P235/70R16
REVOLUTIONS PER MILE 721

P235/65R17
REVOLUTIONS PER MILE 721

P235/60R18
REVOLUTIONS PER MILE 722

P235/70R16 BUX
718

P235/65R17 BUX
REVOLUTIONS PER MILE 715

P235/60R18 BUX

REVOLUTIONS PER MILE 718

Now, I have been told that the tire setting is hard set at the factory and can not be changed by dealer personal just the the DRL setting.
However, I see this as a load of bull since naturally people are going to want to change tire size even if it is to a secondary stock size.

Any one want to lend me a star scan? I'll tell you every thing you ever wanted to know about the KK :D

I looked into buying a star scan. Those little fockers are expensive  I'm talking to a friend of mine who owns a Dodge dealership about getting me star scan.

Thats a good word for it  Wish there was an aftermarket scan tool that offer programing abilities .... heck I wish the DBRIII would work, but thanks to the high speed CAN network

You guys ROCK! Thanks for the quick responses.

The diameter of a 245-75-R16 is 30.5".

If I went with the JeepinbyAl A-Arms, would I need the Terraflex Bumpstops? From what I can tell, I would need them.

I also noticed on RRO's website that they only recommend their A-arms for 2.125" lifts for larger. Will you not be able to obtain a factory alignment with the smaller lifts and the RRO A-Arms?

Also, keep us informed if someone figures out the PCM tire change issue...

Vote up-top for the A-Arms!

Thanks again.
Kevin

Bump stops are cheap insurance....

As far as the arms, if running smaller than 2 inches, the geometry of the steering will be off. Both arms are meant to correct steering geometry with lifts while correcting ball joint angles. I could go in to this further, but I don't think you want to hear me blab all night

as far as what arm to go with, it's up to you. RRO has been really bad in the past with customer service, but that was the past and well the current & future, I don't know.

I will tell you that Marlin at JBA is one of the best people I have ever worked with. So far I have had two sets of arms on my KK. One was a proto type set and the second is the current production one. After a defect was found with the version 1.0 ones, new arms were made up and were out of his door to the few that had the JBA's in less than 2 weeks........

If I understand you correctly, any lift over stock requires an upgraded A-Arm due to premature ball-joint failure on the OEM piece.

Plus go ahead and blab I don't mind.

My recommendation would be to look at the Rock Krawler kit instead of the Daystar kit. 2 reasons would be
1, the install is going to be A LOT easier with the RK kit because you won't have to remove and dis-assemble the front shock/coil assembly. The RK kit using longer strut forks in the front. If you are handy with tools you could do the install yourself in about an hour per side. I had a buddy with me help with mine and we did each side in less then an hour.
2, the RK kit will NOT add any strain to the front shocks. Using the Daystar lift will add extra travel of the front shock which will cause them to wear out faster. Because the RK kit doesn't mess with the shock/spring assembly you won't get extra wear and tear.

You can find pics and videos of my KK with the RK lift here

i can confirm that on 09's the largest tire size available to be programmed is the 20" from the Nitro. I have not had a chance to screw with my 2010 yet as it is starmobile and I am not as familiar with it yet. But I can confirm the 20" is in the system for the Liberty.

so if you are running a 30.5" tire you will be 2.9% bigger then stock
when your speedo says 60mph you are actually going about 63. Thats as good as it gets. I assume the 2010 will be the same.

i have access to a star scan/mobile... as well as DealerConnect

what else do you guys want to know?

Looking at the install for the JBA Arms you need to cut some of the pocket out. How much on the top and bottom need to come out and what should i use to cut as its metal that needs to be cut? Thanks In Advance

Mike08Liberty,

What is needed to accompany the Rock Krawler kit to reduce failure of the suspension components (shocks, A-Arms, bumpstops, etc.)?

No need to cut the pocket... if you do, you will have major issues. The latest version of the JBA arms were fixed because the first ones were making contact with the pocket
