New General Grabber AT2 installed

Got the General Grabber AT2s installed finally. I got the 255/70/16 since they were a little less than the 245/75/16 at TireRack. I have had the tires offroad once since getting them and am very happy with the results. They seem to perform very well in the mud and in loose dirt. I was really amazed at how well they self clean. I do get a little rubbing both front and rear. The front is very minor. The rear is a lot louder due to the way the plastic wheel well liner catches the side of the tire. I thought the muffler had fallen off and was dragging on the ground when I first heard it. I actually got out and looked under the KJ to see what was dragging only to scratch my head and think "what the #&*@" as nothing was touching the ground except rubber. I'll have to do some more experimenting and see what I can do to eliminate the rubbing.

I have the same tires and I love them. Only have minor rubbing, and only at full lock up front, or full flex in the rear.

I don't know about the 245's, but with these 255, there is no contact between the spare and the tailgate.

What is the Wet Traction like on the General AT2's? I pull a boat and trailer on pavement a lot and the Liberty is extremely prone to sliding (rear drums and no ABS), but good tires really helped tremendously over the original Wranglers that came with my 2002 Liberty. I'm running Michellin's right now but love the look of the All Terrain type tires . . . and these look Awesome!

Any real world experience and help would be greatly appreciated. These tires really look to have an almost Mud Terrain type tread, so how do they handle wet pavement?

Well, granted the pavement type is different depending on the state you live in. But I can tell you this much. I have to actually try to break the tires free when it's raining, and sometimes I still can't do it. So I'd say the wet traction is wonderful for an AT tire.

We got some snow today. These tires are awesome in the snow. It is night and day from the Badyears that came on it. Traction is great. With the KJ in 4x4, it was like driving on dry pavement (ok almost, if I really tried i could get it to slip). stopping was easy too. Now, this wasn't ice, just wet snow on slush, but we saw a dozen cars and trucks that had slid off of the road, or were spinning tires trying to go up the slightest inclines. I could not be happier with these tires. I highly recommend them.

NM--I found them when I searched by size instead of brand. But they're not in their "Survey Results".

They don't really advertise them at TireRack.com. Wally World supposedly can order them as well.

I was originally looking for a set of the grabbers, unfortunately I live in BFE, so the closest dealer is 60 miles away. Not a bad commute to pick them up, but for any warranty issues it would be a sucky drive. So I sprang some extra cheese for the BFG's. I was a little let down not being able to get the grabbers, but I am VERY happy with the BFG's.

Yeah, the BFGs are a nice tire. They cost 95% more than the Grabbers...literally...but they are a nice AT tire.
